Talking It Over Counselling

Talking It Over Counselling

I am a BACP registered Therapeutic Counsellor. I offer counselling to both adults over 18 and couples. Having worked with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and of all ages, I commit to offering a service which is welcoming to all clients in a supportive and non-discriminatory manner. At my private counselling practice in Selsdon, South Croydon, I am able to offer you a safe space where you can talk things over and work out what you want to do to move forward and hopefully feel more fulfilled in your life. I also offer online counselling via video, audio, instant messaging and email. I offer a no obligation low-cost first consultation and there is no expectation that you would want to go ahead with further counselling sessions unless we both agree to work together. If you decide to get in touch, I will be delighted to arrange a first meeting.

WHAT'S ON YOUR MIND? If right now life's events seem overwhelming, having a place to be heard, supported and understood may help. Or maybe you're unable to put your finger on what is wrong but just know something is, then you might find exploring in therapy can help to make sense of an issue. Perhaps you're having issues in your relationship and struggling to communicate effectively with your partner, and need a safe place to be able to listen, talk and be heard. WHAT DO I OFFER? I offer confidential, non-judgmental therapy in a nondiscriminatory practice for both individuals and couples. I offer Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy delivered in a relational style. This means I make myself fully present in the work, with the aim to uncover and challenge unconscious limiting self-beliefs. By negative beliefs into awareness, it enables my clients to make better choices in the way they behave and relate, thereby increasing the opportunity to get their needs met and feel happier. I believe a therapeutic relationship is key and requires a commitment from both client(s) and therapist. I am deeply committed to and practice and abide by the principles and ethics of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Having worked with many different individuals and couples, I have experience of issues including abuse, anger, addiction, anxiety (generalised, separation, performance and social), depression, bereavement, eating disorders, identity issues, relationship issues, low self-esteem, low self-confidence. I also have experience of working disorders such as generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), borderline personality disorder (BPD), dissociative identity disorder (DID), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex post-traumatic stress disorder (C-PTSD). When working with DID, I offer a three-stage model of stabilisation, processing of trauma and integration. I work with a specialist supervisor for my DID work. INDIVIDUAL COUNSELLING - HOW TO GET STARTED I suggest an initial session - at my standard fee - where we can meet and talk. This session will allow us both to ask any questions before we both decide if we want to go ahead. More details on the initial session here At the end of the initial session, if you feel unable to commit to working weekly or that counselling is not for you, you are not obliged to book any further sessions. COUPLES COUNSELLING - HOW TO GET STARTED Sometimes relationships get stuck, or someone gets hurt and it becomes hard to talk without fighting. When working with couples, I offer a safe, impartial space to help couples to work through issues, to talk, hear and be heard. It is not my job to take sides, make judgements or attribute blame. Instead, I make myself avaliable to offer both parties equal opportunity to discuss what is wrong, what brought you to this place, what you will do differently, if you decide to move forward and stay together. With this style of counselling you will learn to understand and communicate your feelings and needs more clearly, without ending up in arguements. You will learn to listen to your partner and hear how they feel and what they need from you to make the relationship better. I offer couples the option of on going counsellling in 60 minute weekly sessions (usually 6 - 12 sessions are required) or an intense 2-hour recovery session to get to the heart of the issue and kick start change. There is no one size fits all, if you may prefer to methodically through your relationship issues then weekly sessions may suit you best (one 60 minute session is not enough time to do the work required). If you are feeling overwhelmed by the issues you are facing then and intense recovery session might be best, followed by some ongoing hourly sessions, although for some the intense recovery session is enough WHAT WILL IT COST? FACE TO FACE RAMSGATE, KENT (Monday - Wednesday 1 pm - 8.30 pm) £50 per 50 min sessions for individuals. £70 per 60 min session for couples. £130 per 2-hour recovery session for couples (weekday). £200 per 2-hour recovery session for couples (weekend). KINGS CROSS, LONDON (Saturdays 9 am - 11 am) £60 per 50 min session for individuals. £80 per 60 min session for couples. £150 per 2-hour recovery session for couples (weekday). £225 per 2-hour recovery session for couples (weekend). My experience as a psychotherapist spans 28 years in both the NHS and private sector. I offer a protected space to talk about your problems and feelings, confidentially and in confidence. My process is to listen carefully to your concerns trying to fully understand and experience what it’s like in your shoes. I then consider how to you deal with negative thoughts and feelings you may have. Sometimes in my work, in the endeavor to understand, I try to get to the heart of things. Listening carefully to your problems trying to find out what's causing the difficulties and then helping you to find solutions. As well as listening and discussing important issues with you, I also suggest strategies for resolving problems and, if necessary, help you change, or when working with couples consider how your relationship fits for both of you. It can be useful sometimes to teach specific skills to help you tolerate painful emotions, manage relationships more effectively, or generally improve things. My work as a psychotherapist has helped to treat a wide range of difficulties, including: anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, depression, past issues, anger issues, eating disorders, self-esteem, self-harm, stress, trauma, domestic abuse, loss or simply because life feels complicated.
