Hi I’m Kristian, a Person Centred Counsellor. I offer face to face, telephone or online Counselling. I work from a warm and friendly Counselling practice in Wakefield city centre with free parking onsite and good links to local public transport. I can also offer Telephone or online counselling. This allows you to access therapy from the comfort of your home or another suitable space. This can be at a time of your choosing, allowing your counselling to remain anonymous and you don't have to travel to meet me. You can access counselling with me from anywhere, all you need is you and a phone or computer. Life can be busy and that it can place high demands upon us. We can end up feeling stressed, anxious, depressed or find ourselves feeling lost. We may not know why we feel this way. I aim to help you connect with yourself again, to make sense of your thoughts and feelings. I aim to meet you as a human being and importantly as a 'real' person. I’m not interested in judging you, I accept you as I find you. I aim to offer you a place where you can come and talk to an open minded person, who is interested in you and what brings you to counselling. I aim to be alongside you, as you explore your reason(s) for coming to therapy. If you feel I'm the right counsellor for you, contact me via phone or email.

What do you love most about your job?

I enjoy seeing people change as they go through therapy, being present with them as they uncover new insights. It can be real pleasure to see clients make sense of their thoughts and feelings, making new links to their behaviours and interactions with others. I would say that most of all its seeing them smile again, seeing them grow to accept themselves more and to see them grow kinder, more understanding of themselves (and others) . This is the stuff therapy is made of, ultimately its seeing someones overall situation improve for the better.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I was inspired by a number of things to be honest. I have spent about 15 years working in 'helping professions' with both adults and children, having worked for a number of different organisations. I decided that I would like greater personal freedom to pursue my interest in therapy and providing counselling to individuals. I met a group of like minded people whilst training as a counsellor and we soon realised we shared similar values and ideas. We set up a counselling collective, where we share ideas and resources with an aim to improve the lives of others through therapy.

Why should our clients choose you?

I aim to provide a relationship where people can explore their thoughts and feelings, helping them make sense of them. I offer this without the judgements that we often encounter in our day to day lives. I accept people for who they are, as I find them and aim to let them decide which direction their counselling takes them.

I don't see myself as there to tell people what they should do but I believe it is they themselves that know what is best for them. I will be there alongside them as they explore their reason(s) for entering counselling. I offer counselling either face to face, online or via telephone, it is up the individual to decide how they access counselling.

I aim to provide reassurance of a confidential and professional service to clients who are accessing counselling. I have undertaken relevant training, holding a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and I am a member of the BACP.
