GARY - SUPERVISOR
I have had the pleasure of working working with Karen, in the counselling capacity, since June, 2022. As Karen's therapist, I was immediately impressed by her 'give it a go' attitude. Karen is not afraid to step outside her comfort zone, which was reflected in her willingness to fully engage in the exercises and challenges, both during the session and outside the the therapy room. Karen's 100% commitment level was a significant factor in her progression towards healing. During the client sessions, it was becoming increasingly clear that Karen had a 'heart' to help patients, faced with similar difficulties , including cancer related issues, anxiety and self-esteem. Once again, Karen leaped outside her comfort zone, when it was suggested to her, that she potentially had the right credentials and characteristics to become a counsellor. Throughout Karen's journey as a trainee counsellor to becoming qualified, I have witnessed Karen coming into her 'calling'. Karen's ability to ask the right questions, coupled with her innate sensitivity to identify when client's need to just 'wait' in their space, has aided her client's to move from a place of pain towards healing. As Karen's supervisor, I would say that Karen's greatest strength is her ability to understand her client's needs. That said, Karen's sincerity is for me, the 'key value' that gives meaning to her work.
