L1Counselling

Hi my name is Debbie and I am a fully qualified BACP registered person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist. I work at Rodney Street Liverpool City Centre. I also offer telephone counselling and counselling via SKYPE. Throughout our lives we experience difficulties that we may find hard to deal with. Knowing that you are not on your own and talking through your emotions can be helpful. I offer a supportive and empathic approach to create a confidential, respectful and safe environment for my clients to explore areas of their life that may be preventing them from moving forward and getting the best out of life. Some people come to me with known problems and others just know that they need to speak to someone but are not sure why. This is completely normal. Deciding to see a counsellor can be a difficult decision, but there is nothing to lose by coming to counselling and potentially everything to gain. I offer a free consultation over the phone or face to face which enables you to decide if I am the right counsellor for you. I offer both short term counselling (around 6 sessions) and longer term counselling. During our first session we can look at what you feel is right for you and this can be reviewed throughout our work together to ensure that the therapy is working for you. I have experience of working with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, abuse, addictions, adoption issues, anger management, bereavement, cancer, depression, divorce, health related issues, identity, loss, personal development, redundancy, relationships, self-esteem, self-harm, sexual identity, sexuality, stress. I also have experience of working in a variety of settings. As a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) I am listed on the BACP register for Counsellors and psychotherapists. I receive regular supervision giving you reassurance that I am an ethical practitioner. I also carry professional indemnity Insurance. I also regularly attend CPD (continuing professional development) events to ensure I am up to date and knowledgeable in all areas of counselling and psychotherapy theory and practice. Training, qualifications & experience Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy BSc Psychology Level 3 Intermediate Counselling (CPCAB) Level 2 Introduction to counselling (CPCAB) Level 1 Basic counselling skills Certificate Loss and Grief

If life's events seem overwhelming right now, you might find that having a place to be heard, supported and understood can help. Perhaps you might not be able to put your finger on what is wrong but just know something is and may want to explore it in therapy to get a better awareness of the issue. I am a qualified counsellor and offer confidential, non-judgmental therapy in a non-discriminatory practice and believe a therapeutic relationship is key and requires a commitment from both client and therapist. I am deeply committed to and practice and abide by the principles and ethics of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I suggest an initial session - at my standard fee - where we can meet and talk. This session will allow us both to ask any questions before we both decide if we want to go ahead. I hold a diploma in psychotheraputic counselling and I'm currently in training for MSc. (Psychotherapy) at Metanoia Institute, Middlesex University. I am a member of several organisations, each requiring a certain level of training and understanding to be part of. I belong to BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), the Metanoia Institute and IARTA (International Association for Relational Transactional Analysis). I am also a member of RAINS (Ritual Abuse Information Network and Support) and PODS (Positive Outcomes for Dissociative Survivors).
