My daughter had her birthday party hosted by Alan and he made it hassle free for the adults and kept the children entertained for a solid 2 hours straight. I have been a full time professional magician since 1981 and have huge experience of entertaining with my strolling comedy sleight of hand magic at events both large and small. For events where the guests are standing or sitting informally, I can mix and mingle and approach people as they stand or sit in small groups to present my magic up very close. I can work in one room and across several, inside and/or outside - it's totally flexible! I have even worked on boats and on one occasion a bus! There is tremendous novelty for people to see magic at such close quarters and it is a fabulous ice breaker and talking point. It's perfect for house parties, outside summer events, drinks receptions, weddings and many other informal business or family events. For more formal functions such as dinners, both corporate and social, I bring my magic in between the courses of the meal to each table side, presenting an engaging and fun few minutes for everyone at the table to enjoy. I try to never perform when people are actually eating, only in between the courses, thus ensuring that the guests' enjoyment of the food is not in any way compromised. This table magic is perfect for business dinners, wedding breakfasts, company socials, awards nights, fundraising events and much more. I like to think that my strolling magic brings a truly different and personal element to any occasion. I try to be sensitive to the needs of everyone present and ensure that my magic creates a fun and intriguing atmosphere. It is suitable for everyone from children to Granny, and much of my work comes from happy family occasions that I am privileged to be invited to. I first became interested in magic at the age of 6 and I did my first public performance aged 10. My first paid show was when I was 11 when I was booked to entertain at a child's birthday party - I was only 5 years older than the kids themselves!
As a strolling magician I can bring my comedy sleight of hand magic and perform it very close to the audience. I perform magic with small items such as cards, coins, finger rings, pieces of rope, and I involve the people watching actively in the magic making it a really immersive, fun and memorable experience for the spectators.
As part of my job I get to attend so many happy occasions - weddings, adult birthdays, anniversaries, family parties, Christmas celebrations etc, and it is so much fun to perform at these that it doesn't usually feel like a job at all! I also really like that my magic is presented so close to the audience as it means I get to talk and interact directly with them, which makes the entertainment so much more personal.
To be honest it came about initially almost by accident. I was doing paid magic shows on a semi pro basis alongside a regular job, but gradually I became so busy with the magic that the only sensible solution was to turn full time pro so that I could give all my attention to it. That was 35 years ago and I have enjoyed every minute of it since then.
I genuinely love what I do and I like nothing better than to bring magic into other people's lives at moments that are important to them. My experience means that bookers will be engaging someone who knows exactly how to ensure that everything goes really well and who will enhance any type of special event. My magic is fun, will amaze the guests, and I always do everything I can to make what I do as memorable for those attending as possible.
