I’m a documentary wedding photographer which means my photographs will tell the honest and unscripted story of your day, not a series of poses or orchestrated shots which bear no resemblance to the feelings, the emotions, even the smells, tastes and sounds you’ll have experienced on your wedding day. Weddings these days don’t have to be formal and stuffy, and neither does the photography. The photographs are the only thing which become more important, and hold more significance, over the years. To say that the dress/shoes/flowers/venue/band will all be forgotten over time is a hackneyed phrase, and yet it’s true. Your memories become more precious, and your photographs will become the only way to revisit your day, and for little people who have not even been born yet to witness that day themselves, 10, 20, 30 years from now. Documentary wedding photography ensures a fluidity to the day, and a genuine narrative to your wedding photographs. Every photographer you speak to will have a different approach to how they photograph your day. And so you can get a better understanding of how I work, here’s mine: I don’t intervene in the flow of the day, which means I won’t direct you, or any of your guests, or ask you to repeat anything. I won’t stand on the sidelines shooting with a long lens like uninvited paparazzi: I will be close to the action, keep my eyes and ears open and have my camera lifted ready for the punchline of a joke or an unexpected show of affection. For me, a good photograph is when light, composition and timing all come together at the right moment, and the resulting image has the ability to evoke emotion and feeling. All manner of things can inspire and creep into my work, whether it’s fleeting human interaction, a trip to the cinema, or the work of favourite photographers such as Will McBride or Harry Gruyeart. I’ll always look for pleasing compositions and balance within a frame so the resulting photograph is as beautiful as it is genuine. It’s very important to me that the photography doesn’t interfere with the couples enjoyment of their wedding; I aim to be completely unobtrusive and yet get utterly immersed in the day – it is the greatest compliment when couples tell me they are amazed at the moments I managed to capture as they didn’t even realise I had been there. I won’t take you away from your guests for photographs in a hundred different locations: I will be there to photograph you enjoying the party with the people that mean the most to you. I believe that your memories from your day should be made with your family and friends, not with your photographer, and for this reason I like to limit the time I steal you away for pictures of just the two of you to around 15 – 25 minutes. I don’t work to ‘must-have’ shot lists cut out from the back of a bridal mag, and I won’t take contrived, soulless pictures that look like someone else’s Pinterest board: I will capture the atmosphere and the energy, the details and the emotion, the tears and the laughter and the hundred and one little stories which makes your wedding uniquely yours. I offer one wedding package to tell the story of your day, although this can be tweaked to suit your individual needs. This covers : Photography coverage from bridal preparations to the first dance (usually around 10 hours ) Visit to the location before the wedding All high resolution images supplied on a USB stick A set of low resolution images to be used on social media Password protected online gallery for sharing and ordering prints A fully insured, experienced and friendly photographer to cover your special day and guide you through the photography process I cover travel in the North West but would require expenses for further afield and possibly overnight accomodation The cost of the day's coverage is £999 , This can be adjusted to suit your needs however so do please get in touch whatever your budget . There are no hidden cost for extra fees although there are some optional extras that can help make your photography experience even better . Second photographer available from £250 per day. All the photographers I wok with have a style that works really well with mine and all the photos from the day will blend seamlessly together. It's a great way to have two different perspectives and two pairs of eyes to make sure nothing at all is missed. Engagement shoot £200. A great way to have a practise run and get to feel more comfortable in front of the camera we can shoot in a studio or a location of your choice . All photos taken will be supplied with high resolution on a USB stick for you. Wedding Albums . Albums start at 8 by 8 inches square to by 12 by 12 inches square and have a large selection of covers and finishes. Prices for 8 by 8 albums start at £295 including my desing and layout. We can go into details about the album further once you have made your booking. Before the desig stage you make your photo selection and all photos chosen for the album will be edited . I always show you proofs of the design before going to print to make sure you are happy and then a couple of weeks a stunning album arrives. If you have a specific album requirement or budget to work to I will always do my best to accomodate your wants and needs.I t's all about you and getting exaclty what you want on your very special day.

What do you love most about your job?

Straight up, weddings are amazing events to get to shoot. You will never get bored, since there is always something happening, and each one is different! Not only do they take place in beautiful locations, but they are also chock full of genuine emotion. You get to spend your day capturing happiness, laughter, joy, anticipation, excitement, and maybe even some sadness. It’s so jam packed with photographic opportunities your mind will spin.

What inspired you to start your own business?

My interest in photography grew from many years, of doing ok photos for family and friends .This gave me, what I believe is a very privileged beginning into the industry. I learnt from some of the best in the photography world - lighting, posing and finding locations came pretty naturally to me, the camera was the complex part. However once I’d purchased my first semi-professional camera equipment the settings became second nature, with a little practise...!

Why should our clients choose you?

My photographs will tell the honest and unscripted story of your day, not a series of poses or orchestrated shots which bear no resemblance to the feelings, the emotions, even the smells, tastes and sounds you’ll have experienced on your wedding day. Weddings these days don’t have to be formal and stuffy, and neither does the photography. The photographs are the only thing which become more important, and hold more significance, over the years.
