What do you love most about your job?

I really enjoy being trusted enough to be asked for advice or an opinion, and being honest enough to give a response, even if it may not be exactly what my customer might expect to hear. I have always taken a more technically-focused approach to sales, and have often managed to save customers significant amounts of money by tweaking a design here and there to come to a far more cost-effective solution; for example, reducing the size of a bifold door aperture on some planning/building regs drawings to enable fewer panels to be used, driving cost down as a consequence.

It's a great feeling to know that you have helped someone achieve the best possible results, for the best possible price.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Having worked for a fairly large company for a long time, there were a few things that struck me again and again, especially over the last 2-3 years, and it got to the point where I knew I could do a great job myself.

There always seemed to be a lack of understanding of the correlation between offering an exceptional after-sales service, and securing repeat business in future as a result.

Essentially, I grew tired of watching relationships that I had built with my customers during the sales process being tarnished by a lack of care and communication once the order had moved along the line and out of my hands, both in one-off retail cases and with regular trade customers whom I had dealt with over the course of years.
