Dog Tired Dog Training

Cambridgeshire

At Dog Tired we do training differently. My aim is to train dogs in their natural environment (their home, the park or on a walk) where we can teach them to respond around distractions and deal with the everyday issues they'll come across. As a 2016 Scoot Headline Award Winner, Dog Tired can guarantee an excellent standard of training. I am a Master Trainer with the GoDT and an ADTB accredited instructor, in addition to holding various diplomas. Having worked extensively with rescue dogs, this is an area which I specialize in. Other specialization areas include: Behavioural issues, Greyhounds and Border Collies. One thing I offer is affordability. Whatever training you're looking for there are a variety of payment option to choose from: -Pay as you go with both group and private sessions -Pay for a block of group or private sessions -Pay for an all inclusive package; this is available for both behavioural training and puppy training and is tailor made to your needs. Dog Tired offers: -Behavioural modification and rehabilitation -Rescue dog training -Breed specific training -Puppy training -Everyday obedience training for the real world Lastly at Dog Tired I can give you the support which is crucial for success. Having been there I understand training not just as a trainer and behaviourist but from an owners point of view. For this reason I offer ongoing telephone and email support (at no extra charge) to all clients so that I'm always there should you need me.

What do you love most about your job?

During the time I've been working as a dog trainer and behaviourist, I've seen a lot of different situations and sometimes it can be heartbreaking. Seeing a dog who has been abused previously and has lost their trust and faith in people makes me want to do everything possible to help. So when I see a dog conquer that fear and start to trust people again, I feel that I'm helping both owners and their dogs.
Knowing that an owner is pleased with their dogs progress and seeing progress in any shape or form is the best reward this job can give, whether it's a puppy progressing with their obedience or an older dog getting over a problem.

What inspired you to start your own business?

My Border Collie was my inspiration. When we re-homed him I was 8 years old and after seeing how scared he was of people due to previous abuse and how much it had affected him, I wanted to learn more about how his mind worked so that I could help him. I began reading books and we sought the help of a dog trainer, whose enthusiasm for dogs further inspired me. He quickly became a friend and mentor and as I got older I began undertaking qualifications to learn everything I could about dog behaviour, before setting up Dog Tired.

Why should our clients choose you?

When I work with clients, I want to make sure that they get what they want from the training. Rather than telling them what they should do or want I want them to do, I speak to them to ask them where they want to go with the training. I also don't offer a one size fits all method, dogs learn differently and like people they have different personalities so what works for one dog may not work for another. I look at the individual dog and work with their owner to find the best method, then provide them with the support that they need throughout training.
