Ayurveda is considered by many to be the oldest medical system in the world. The fundamental belief is that we each have a unique biological make-up and the treatment should be tailored based on the individual's unique constitution. Where there is constitutional imbalance, there is ailment.
During an initial Ayurvedic consultation, I will ask you questions about different areas of your life. This will include gathering information about your physical health, your mental well-being, but also your occupation and the conditions you work in, as well as your diet, exercise routines and relationships.
The initial consultation will aim to identify key symptoms and the potential causes of constitutional imbalance and determine suitable treatment options and preventative measures that you can take to aid in physical, mental and spiritual recovery. At the end of the session, you will be advised on the herbs and remedies needed to restore your unique doshic balance, the appropriate lifestyle choices to complement your treatment and you will be provided with a personalised diet sheet to assist you in your journey towards achieving balance.
Ayurveda has been proven to be very effective in managing the symptoms of a variety of ailments, notably:
• Digestive tract disorders
• PCOS
• Skin disorders (such as Psoriasis, eczema etc)
• Fibroids
• Auto immune disorders
• Diabetes
• Respiratory system disorders
Massage therapy is another important aspect of maintaining your wellbeing and restoring balance. During the therapy, natural oils are carefully chosen to aid in the individual’s personal healing and constitutional balance. Several traditional techniques are used during a session, which include:
• Pinda Sweda; a warm herbal poultice with aromatic and medicinal herbs used during the massage, aimed to strengthen and nourish the body. It aids the recovery of tired muscles and inflamed joints.
• Gentle Marma point stimulation; also referred to as neurolymphatic points, stimulating the removal of lymph and enhancing the efficiency of the body’s organs. This technique helps to restore energy, as well as providing physical and psychological relaxation.
• Ayurvedic oil massage; opens and cleanses Chakra energy channels, releasing mental and physical tension.
I am a firm believer that medicinal care should be personal and tailored towards your needs, with nature providing the tools necessary for healing to take place.
