About

Wilkes Wood is a multi-disciplinary design studio founded to help small businesses achieve bigger things.

Wilkes Wood was founded by Fred Ostrovskis-Wilkes and James Littlewood in 2018.

Whilst working as a marketing freelancer and graphic designer respectively, we realised that there were very few options in regards to serious design dedicated towards small businesses.

The Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust required Wilkes Wood's design services with a tight deadline for a logo project for SYRS (South Yorkshire Regional Services) - they delivered on time and on budget and we wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Very professional and dedicated to their craft - would recommend to any business or organisation, large or small. More...

James and Fred at Wilkes Wood were fantastic in every respect. I wanted a website for my photography galleries and they produced quickly and without fuss some lovely, crisp, modern designs, which are evident in the finished product. They were a joy to deal with and always replied promptly and efficiently. Also, they have been generous in giving 'after-completion' advice and help. I will use them again without hesitation. Wilkes Wood have just finished developing my new website. They were able to understand what I was trying to ask them even though I just didn't have enough knowledge to frame my questions coherently. They seemed to know what they could do for me and just got on with it with a minimum of fuss. Great people to work with. I highly recommend them! More...

If you need a website making, use these guys!
We've worked with 3 web design agencies/designers in the last 6 months and Wilkes Wood has been the only one who were able to achieve what we wanted for our nation wide drinks brand. They worked closely with us and our feedback and delivered a fantastic end product we're really proud of! More...

Q&A

A great website is one that answers every question your audience may have whilst showing them what's at the heart of your business. It doesn't waste time with unnecessary features or bore visitors with endless copy - it's clean, visually stunning and turns an initial click into serious interest.

A great website must also be able to grow and adapt at the pace of the business it is supporting - that means quick and easy edits, an intuitive content management system and reliable support from the people that made it!

• How would you describe your business/venture in a few words?
• Do you already have a website? If so, what is/is not working for you?
• Who is your audience?
• What do you want your audience to do on your site?
• Who is your competition?
• What is the purpose of this website?
• Do you need help with copy and/or visual content or will this be provided to us?
• Do you know what pages you would like on the website?
• Does your business/venture have pre-existing design guidelines or a brand book? (e.g colours, fonts, logo, etc)
• When is the deadline?
• Do you plan to make extensive changes after launch or will they mainly be small edits?
• What are your personal goals for this project?

The best part of my job is helping small businesses grow and working with many small businesses, entrepreneurs and organisations to turn their ideas into something tangible and effective. Seeing how happy we can make clients by helping them reach their audiences or transform the visual elements of their brand is what makes us tick!

Both my parents are entrepreneurial individuals and were, from a very young age, supportive of my ambitions to start my own business, so as soon as my business partner James and I saw this glaring gap in the market for serious design dedicated to smaller businesses we decided to quit our jobs and go for it - neither of us have looked back since.

We genuinely care about helping you achieve your goals and we don't complicate things with technical jargon or underhanded small-prints. Our business is built on transparency and feedback - we work in a feedback orientated process that always keeps you in the loop and values your opinion.

We're driven by the community and support each and every one of our clients with the same attention to detail, regardless of size or industry. It doesn't matter if you're a national drinks brand or a local photographer - we sweat the small stuff for everyone.

We also try and remain accessible and affordable to as many people as possible, so we are happy to discuss flexible payment plans or point clients in the right direction if we don't have what they're looking for.

At the end of the day, we're not happy unless you are, and our work and testimonials reflect this!
