It was such a lovely experience engaging Trish to support our son a few months before his 11+ tests. Trish has a really nice way of getting to know your child in advance of starting, and beginning in a fun way, with quizzes and games, before understanding where she can help to fill in any gaps. Though our son was doing other activities to prepare, I think the way Trish would help him think through questions and how to plan to answer them, was so useful in raising his confidence to deal with the tricky questions. Not knowing quite what we were looking for in a tutor to guide our son through the entrance exams for independent schools, we were immediately impressed with Trish’s personable character and methodical approach. Trish navigated us through the process and preparation skillfully, strategically and at all times with good humour.
Trish’s planning was incredibly thorough, yet not inflexible. She adapted her teaching and the revision timetables she provided us with as she got to know our son’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as the time (and motivation) he had available to study. I have no doubt her “coaching” style of teaching assisted her in this as much as it encouraged our son to think independently and creatively.
Trish’s teaching over Zoom was fantastic, very technically adept, and we were certainly at no disadvantage compared to being face-to-face. In fact, as a result, I’m sure that our son was much better prepared for the interviews with headmasters that took place virtually.
Trish was extremely well prepared, and clearly put many hours in ‘behind the scenes’. Her lessons were varied, focussed and fun - our son definitely enjoyed the stretch and challenge of his learning journey and felt fulfilled in a way that he rarely does in the classroom.
We welcomed Trish’s patience when feeding back to us; she was always very willing and giving of her time and this was hugely appreciated. I will always be grateful to her for taking a call from me at 9pm to explain a maths problem to me (not our son!). She also memorably came to our rescue when we plateaued with non-verbal reasoning and when our son was called to a scholarship interview on short notice. Trish provided us with example maths problems and topics for debate, and was spot on.
Thanks to Trish, our son was thoroughly prepared and armed with strategies and confidence for the exams, and ultimately rewarded with academic scholarships for both the schools he applied to. Trish is amazing. She tutored my son for the 11+ in 2 months.Other tutors had said it was too late to prepare him so refused. Trish rose to the challenge & made sure he was ready. Two months tutoring with her & he passed his 11+ along with 3 entrance exams to private Grammar schools. He has been offered a place in one of the most prestigious Grammar schools in Manchester. She’s very approachable, I contacted her several times on different days & she was always happy to help. The teaching does not stop after the lesson, she monitored his progress throughout the week & even prepared a timetable for him to keep him on track with his learning. Trish has been working with our 10-year-old once or twice a week for several months. From day one our experience has been excellent, and I couldn’t recommend her highly enough.

The sessions are always well structured and prepared. During their time together, Trish has gotten to know our son very well. This personal interest in him as an individual allows her to tailor their time, not only to meet our objectives, but tap into his learning style, and importantly the things he’s interested in more generally. This provides a broad, rich learning experience. They both genuinely enjoy their sessions, and there’s always a great energy with lots of laughing.

The work they are doing together is often deliberately challenging, but barriers are overcome in a creative way and the new knowledge that he acquires sticks. He has benefitted from developing learning techniques and coping mechanisms as well as the core subject area. This has substantially grown his confidence. My daughter describes her English lessons with Trish as "great fun". Trish is doing an amazing job by allowing my daughter to explore and discover her abilities. Trish is amazing.She has only been teaching my son for a few weeks now but already She has made such a huge difference to his learning. She makes it fun & always praises him for his efforts.He looks forward to his lessons with her. He has grown in confidence. After his 1st lesson he told me I had chosen the right tutor for him. I was incredibly nervous selecting a stranger to tutor my 7 year old daughter. However, from the moment I started communicating with Trish, I knew she was going to be amazing. Trish is a warm, kind, caring tutor who makes learning so much fun! Trish communicates constantly, which is so lovely too. You feel supported.
I found that I was unable to home school during covid and I didn't want my daughter falling behind, so I provided Trish with all the worksheets school provided, and together they are working through them.
Trish recognised very quickly that my daughter has a certain way of learning - possibly why she was slipping behind in certain areas of maths at school. Since we have adjusted the way we 'teach' her, my daughter is really beginning to gain knowledge and understanding.
