What makes a great website?
A great website must have a combination of the following: speed, responsive for mobile, visible on the first page and secure.
I look at a website like a shop window, it needs to have a first impression appeal. Providing I want to continue to browse the site I would want it to be fast and not hanging while trying to connect, if it does then I ditch it and go onto the next site.
The site must be responsive for mobile, these days with the evolution of smartphones and other devices, the screen size needs to be taken into consideration. Anything that makes the user scroll sidewards is an absolute no-no!
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I would want to know if they have any ideas of their own or have seen any sites that they either like or any certain functions they have seen that want to be incorporated in their new site.
What do they want the site to do, is it for e-commerce, is it to showcase products for affiliate sales, every site is different.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the challenge of building and ranking websites no matter what it takes as long as it is ethical and runs with Googles guidelines.
Building a site and optimising it to out-perform the competition gives you such a buzz, I love it!
What inspired you to start your own business?
Topratedsearch was formed in 2014. I had been practising search engine optimisation and website design for about eight years previous to forming my agency, it was something that I could really get my teeth into while building various successful niche sites. It just seemed the right thing to do. Now that I can do it full time as a career, my niche building has become second place - time permitting!
