I'm a qualified and accredited counsellor and anger management practitioner with specialist training in gender, sexuality and relationship diversity through Pink Therapy with a private practice in the North West of England. I'm currently only able to see clients face to face who live locally to me in the Furness Peninsula, but can work with other clients from anywhere in the country via online services, using the Zoom meeting app. All sessions currently cost £40 and last for approximately 50 mins.
In early 2010 I attended the British Association of Anger Management’s anger management programme led by Mike Fisher and subsequently went on to train as an accredited facilitator of anger management programmes with Mike completing my training in November 2010. I then trained in counselling skills through Life-Force, Colchester gaining my Certificate in Counselling Skills in December 2011, and then studied working with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in 2012. In Early 2017 I attended Pink Therapy’s Essentials in Gender and Sexual Diversity Therapy Training, and at the start of 2018 attended two days training in Gender, Relationship and and Sexual Diversity Therapy run by Outreach, Cumbria. I completed my Level 4 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and Counselling Skills and Theory in 2018 and am just starting the final year of a two year post-graduate diploma in Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversity Therapy with Pink Therapy.
Through my experiences of facilitating my anger management programme, I adopt an integrative approach to my counselling work. This is underpinned by a person centred, humanistic position where I am able to shift to other styles depending on your needs. I have found that my own practice is informed through my continued self-development, my work with my clients and my research and learning. This has led me to know that two key elements in counselling are the continual development and deepening of the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client within a safe and secure environment, and my ability as a therapist to accept and value the individuality and importance of your experiences so that I can fully support your unique journey of self-learning and personal development.
I have a current, clean enhanced DBS certificate, full indemnity insurance in place for both my counselling and anger management work and am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office. I hold qualifications in Organizational Data Security Fundamentals and Risk Management. I am an Accredited Registrant member of the National Counselling Society and work under their Code of Ethics. I am also a Professional Member of the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online, and have been working online through my anger management practice since 2012.
I moved to Dalton-In-Furness, Cumbria in 2018 having lived in Colchester, Essex for the previous 20 years. I am 61, divorced twice, and have three children, two of whom are grown up. I'm a trans-identified female with an empathetic, compassionate attitude and supportive of Sexuality, Gender and Relationship Diverse clients (LGBTIA and Queer, Kink, Pan or Questioning).
