4 years ago I enrolled my daughter in singing lessons with Alexandra Hans, Victoria having been involved in musical theatre for 6 years had totally lost her self confidence. Since becoming a student at AHVA Victoria has had the opportunity to perform at many events including big stages on the West End three times. She has also been involved in performing for several worthy charity events including the Bluebell Wood Hospice. Victoria also took her first LCM exam with AHVA and gained a distinction at level 4 due to the fantastic teaching and techniques this academy has to offer.
Throughout these last four years I have watched the effect that these highly trained and committed teachers have had on Victoria and was amazed to see what she had become as I watch her perform at The Adelphi theatre recently. Victoria oozed confidence and self belief something I had not seen in her for a very long time and it moved me to tears. I will always be thankful that I took the decision to send her to this fantastic academy and will never be able to thank the teachers of AHVA enough for all they have done for her.
I would urge any parent who has a child that is interested in singing to join AHVA if only for the chance to see you child perform at the yearly concert where every child gets there time to shine. More...

I'm updating my review because my last one was around two years old and in that time I feel the academy has grown along with my ability and experience so I feel it was only fair I update this! I've been a member of the academy for around two years and I can honestly say joining was the best choice I made! Alex is the most incredibly talented and friendly person who puts you at ease straight away, as do all the other amazing tutors we're lucky to have! I've had other singing teachers in Rotherham and the tuition I've had at this academy is absolutely second to none. In less than two years I've sung at local musical festivals, The o2 arena and the west end whilst achieving a distinction at Grade 6 all thanks to this academy! I'd never go anywhere else for singing, as the academy is simply the best at what it does! A big thank you to Alex, Carrie, Beth and Lexi for all your continued hard work and dedication to this school, but a huge thank you to Alex for giving me the confidence I never dreamed I could have ���� More...

I've had vocal lessons before from various teachers, but once I started here I never realized how many things I actually didn't know and the fact I was really damaging my voice, I've finally learned proper techniques and how to use my voice the best I can and I've gained so much confidence and now feel comfortable performing again! I would give the vocal academy much more than 5 stars if possible! My daughter has been singing with the academy for over 3 years now and I can honestly say nobody could have worked better around and with her quirky personality and doubts. She is steadily developing into an amazing performer, studying the right songs for her age and interest. The teachers are excellent role models and support all their students as you can surely see from the other parent's reviews. The students are given the opportunity to shine in the yearly academy show; last years' has blown me away with the high standard of all performances and the joy of seeing the children improve from year to year. All teaching is underpinned by scientific research closely followed by the teachers who are currently studying at Masters' level. I would like to say that my daughter was the “other child who failed her exam”, BUT she didn’t fail. My daughter did fantastic with the 2 songs she sang and the questions she had to answer unfortunately Alex wasn’t given the right information, she contacted the examiners on numerous occasions checking and clarifying what was needed and I know this as my daughter had to change her songs because of what they said was needed. Alex couldn’t have done enough and was devastated with what happened especially when she had to ring me at work to tell me. I know this is no fault of Alex’s and so does my daughter who saw this as a experience. Alex as insisted she pay herself for both girls to do them again. We have been singing with Alex from day 1 and have really enjoyed the experiences the academy have given my daughter and look forward to what’s to come.xx More...
