We are a friendly, family company based in beautiful County Durham in the North East of England and specialise in creating spectacular dried and silk flower designs for weddings and other special occasions. Nature has provided us with a stunning display of colour, shape and style when it comes to flowers our aim is to maintain nature’s natural shape and form in our work, adding a touch of our own design inspiration to the mix.

Julie created what I can only describe as my second most favourite thing about our wedding (the husband first obviously)! There was not one fresh flower in sight and if I hadn’t gone around shouting from the roof tops that they were dried and artificial, because I was still in shock myself) nobody would have known . They even smelt incredible. I decided I didn’t want to nor could we justify spending hundreds of pounds on something that was literally dead within a few days or pressed at best. I now have stunning flowers, some of which will stay with me and some will be gifted (reluctantly) a couple of weeks after the wedding. Our wreath is going above our bed! I've been trying to think of the words to show just how over the moon we were with our flowers! Julie was absolutely fantastic right from the start with choosing our flowers to when they were delivered to our front door. Julie listened to everything I wanted and provided helpful ideas with arrangements/flower choices. All of our flowers were absolutely perfect from the bouquet, head crowns and button holes/corsages. Prices were affordable and Julie remained in contact with me throughout the whole process. Julie was absolutely amazing and so helpful from start to finish, despite my MANY changes! The flowers Julie made were completely perfect, exactly what I had in mind and fantastic value for money. What do you love most about your job?
We think that we have a perfect job because we love creating beautiful things and working with people - and that's exactly what we get to do every day! It's a great privelidge to be able to work with flowers - to celebrate their beauty, understand their symbolism and create 'flower art.' We're here to help you make your flower choices and assist you every step of the way as you head towards your big day!
What inspired you to start your own business?
I had already run a successful Wedding dress design/making company for many years, however it was my daughter's wedding that inspired me to start 'The Sleeping Flower Company!' We wanted high class, dried and silk flowers for her wedding and couldn't find what we wanted...and so I decided to dry, design and make them myself. That was the start of my love affair with flowers! So many people encouraged me to carry on making them after the wedding ... and so I did! Now, I love being my own boss, creating the things I love, flexibility in my working hours and having my own flower workshop to be creative in!

I have worked as designer/maker in the wedding, costume and entertainment industry for over 30 years and have a wide range of knowledge and experience.
