Cosy communal atmosphere. In general the food is really tasty and well prepared. Don't go for the vegan vegetable burger if you don't agree with spice! Insanely spicy

Salutation is a great pub. A little out the way for a lunch time at work but always worth the trip. The food quality is decent and the beer is good too. Quite a fan of Camdon Brewing Co now. More...

Slow service as we only had an hour for lunch and it took a while to arrive but the food was amazing!!Need high chairs and baby change but maybe they don't get many family diners. Definitely worth a visit for the food! :) Also, staff were friendly. More...

I am unsure when this pub is open. But it served nice food and staff were welcoming and accommodating. But anyone looking for the energy and vibe of when it was locally owned not sure if it has that...yet!.

Good selection of real ales - 2 Titanic and 2 local - and kept well!! Decent pub menu, burgers, steak and veggie. Very tidy, clean old fashioned exterior but modernish pub. Close to Royal Northern College of Music. I will return!! More...

Wow this place has changed since last time!New décor- friendly staff, large beer, wine and cider selection and less crazy student types. ..Went in here for a course night out to have a few starting pints and was well received! Didn't go to the toilets but apparently all was well there too!I think because it is now owned by MMU it is more of a student haunt again rather than just crazy music venue THOUGH the music nights used to be really good (don't know if they still do them). It is in an odd location so most people around that area will probably go to oxford road corridor with font, footage, sand bar etc just around the corner. BUT lovely place for a pint anyhoo! More...

The Salutation, or 'The Sally' if you prefer, is a jewel in Manchester's crown of proper pubs. Ace decor, big beer garden (covered, so you don't have to worry about the rain too much), excellent guest ales and some of the best bar staff in the world. Add to this, a good mix of live music which covers weekly Irish folk sessions, to open mic nights, to the NXNW festival, to visiting bands doing the rounds (recently, Mazes and Milk Maid played a barnstorming set in the back room) and a cavalcade of things that are daft, fun and everything you'd want from a boozer like this.In short, The Sally is an excellent, excellent pub. Ne'er was an update needed more so than this! The snug little Salutation has been taken over by the folks at Trof - those guys are spreading like wildfire, next stop Peter Street and Green Room - and if that means Trof food, house draughts and banter in a delightfully traditional environment then I'm all for it. I mean, this place is a pub's pub. All the original features have been kept; it hasn't been Troffed to the max aside from a few very subtle quirks. I came here with Jess H for the weekly pub quiz, and this is how a pub quiz should be done. A Pictures Round to be going along with, a General Knowledge one, a Music one and a Film & TV one. Lots of my favourite topics, and just the right level of challenging mixed with some smug feelings. Also, the girl who was running it was one of the friendliest, nicest quizmasters I've ever had the good fortune to encounter. Also, in these cold winter months, take comfort in the fact that the Trof's Salutation is one of the warmest pubs I've stepped into in my life. Warning. Wear layers! Great quiz, great chat and an eclectic mix of discerning students and happy locals. I'll be back to try the food, but job's a good-un so far. More...

Known as the 'Sally' to regulars this is one grand old boozer. Stoutly standing alone on the corner of Boundary Rd and Chatham St street like the last bastion of the hangover, the Salutation is one of the most diverse pubs you'll find. Its proximity to the local universities and hospitals means you'll often find a gang scurvy looking students in one corner and a tired looking off duty medical team in the other. Its even closer proximity to Moss Side means it has that vital element of potential violence that every good pub needs! What, you thought it was the beer alone making you so merry? Half of that's adrenaline! More...

This Irish bar is probably one of the best in Manchester. Great atmosphere and great resident band to keep th Irish liveliness going. Great staff who pour the best Guinness in town ( and I know my Guinness trust me). You will find a mix of students and locals here. You will walk away with a nice fuzzy feeling from here- and that's not just because of the drink. More...

Irish bars don't get any better than this - it could have written the book! Yet its not an Irish bar its a pub that Irishmen frequent and make merry in. If you've ever seen John Fords masterpiece The Quiet Man and are familiar with Cohans bar then you will know the Salutation. Add an eclectic mix of students,Mancs and Moss Side metrosexuals and you end up with a unique chemistry and atmosphere. Throw in the best Guiness anywhere, the resident band and toilets with the most awesome acoustics then you are on a winner. Give it a go and you will receive cead mile failtje(I think I've spelt it right - my gaelic is a little rusty!). More...
