How long have you been interested in magic?
Since I was 10 years old! I was brought up on a diet of David Nixon TV magic shows and was later bought a box of tricks by my parents, I would sneak off to central London aged around 13 to find more serious and professional ways to learn magic, and my big break was winning The Young Magician of The Year by the famous Magic Circle in London in 1977.
Take us through your show – what can we expect?
Coins, flames, and playing cards disappear into the ether, seemingly banished from reality - only to be summoned again with casual ease. Items appear transformed in a split second, before your very eyes. This is the mystifying close-up magic of Dean Metcalfe.
Dean has been perfecting his craft for over 3 decades, developing a sophisticated style of close-up trickery. With his fluid sleight of hand and disarming demeanour, Dean creates a truly immersive and memorable experience for your guests
What do you love most about your job?
The look of amazement on peoples's faces and the fact that its a very difficult profession to be good at and stay current in an ever changing market. But ultimately Magic brings astonishment and enjoyment which is what I enjoy most.
What inspired you to start your own business?
The challenge from a very young age was to take my Magic from a hobby to being a full time professional. I have had to greatly adapt to suit changing markets and incorporate close up Magic a lot more these days as opposed to big stage shows.

I am an award winner with many years experience, I have been the main attraction on Magician's Galas as far back as the 1980's.
