The Elvetham

I am British born living currently in Australia. I come over to England twice a year to visit my family and always visit The Elvetham with my friends.
From the moment those entrance gates open I am transformed to another world.
I absolutely adore coming here. The ambiance is wonderful, the building is wonderful, every one of the staff is wonderful and the food is wonderful.
Who couldn't love this place.

i stayed here and participated in a leadership program with work. i was really impressed with the food every meal was top quality and very well presented and prepared. The staff were helpful and personable. the hotel decor and grounds were beautiful.

only down side was the failure to keep rooms cool. it was so hot and all 24 participants on the course complained of the heat.

if o had stayed during a cooler week i would have given 5 stars More...

We had our wedding at the Elvetham on 8th Jan 2017 with all of the beautiful Christmas decorations still in place. The building and grounds are stunning at any time of the year but even more so with the decorations up. In practical terms the building and grounds are very well maintained and everywhere is spotlessly clean. We made our arrangements with Charlotte and the process was simple and easy with all of the details ironed out at a quick meeting in the lead up to the wedding.

We had a sample taster meal in the months before our wedding which was really helpful in getting our final menu choices…the food and service were faultless during our tasting meal and the wedding breakfast itself. On both occasions we were served by Val, a nicer more charming person you will not meet…Thank you for helping to make our day so special Val.

On the day arrangements were also faultless and with the help of Nick and Ant any questions, changes were taken care of without fuss and swiftly making for a stress free (except for the actual marriage bit :) ) day. Again Ant acted as toastmaster during the day and his booming voice and chilled out manner were very much appreciated.

Overall The Elevtham exceeded our expectations in every respect and we would be very happy to recommend it! More...

I have so many wonderful things to say about The Elvetham I do not know where to begin. This venue is perfect in every way. From day one of looking for the perfect wedding venue, my husband and I knew that we had found the perfect setting as soon as we drove up the path towards the gorgeous building, it really took our breath away! Our wedding co-ordinater Jenny was very kind, warm and friendly and made the whole planning process stress free and accommodated our every request. The food was delicious and after our trial menu tasting the catering staff listened to our feedback and on the wedding day they tailored our meals to our requests perfectly. All of our wedding guests complimented us on how wonderful the food was and the evening buffet was just as delicious as the sit down meal. Anthony, the in house master of ceremony's was truly brilliant. He was such a fun and charming character and ensured everything ran smoothly on the day! The biggest compliment we could pay him is that it was like having another friend at our wedding. He made my husband and I feel totally comfortable and well he was just totally awesome! Iain who worked behind the bar in the evening was wonderful and made sure everyone was served their drinks with a friendly smile. I've mentioned a few names, but truly all the staff worked really hard and their efforts ensured that our day was fantastic so thank you to all of them. The week before the wedding I felt a little nervous contemplating all the things that might go wrong, but honestly not a single thing did. Jenny and her team listened to everything I had said and everything was set out for us exactly as I wanted. Just perfect! Our bridal suite was a beautiful room with a bath that was more like a swimming pool it was so big, but after visiting a few of our guests rooms the following morning it was clear that their rooms were lovely too. We got married at The Elvetham on Saturday and it really was the best day of our lives. It was everything we could of dreamed of from start to finish. All the staff were excellent throughout the day & because of them everything ran so smoothly. It is a beautiful venue and would highly recommend it to anyone. Cant thank the lovely staff of The Elvetham enough! On a Christmas Party night with colleagues and 2 of them got rather worse for wear. The staff were so good at helping us, cleaning them up and getting them off home discretely. The party was great and food was quite nice (chocolate ganache wasnt great). I would love to see dodgems cars at the event next time too! More...

Beautiful building and super helpful staff addressing any concerns immediately. Slight mix up over availability of breakfast goods was soon recompensed which makes the hotel no quibble 'we're sorry there were no eggs soyou don't have to pay for your unsatisfactory breakfast' truly decent. Had a drink here, a lovely hotel with breathtaking views. Went for a stroll up to Richmond hill and had thought about come here for a drink for a while and decided that we would. Stayed here for a wedding. I have no idea how much it cost as someone else paid. But it was great. The rooms were nice, spacious, clean and comfortable. The hotel has a lot of character. The wedding spaces are great - the whole thing was hosted there. The food at the wedding breakfast was great and then we moved down into the wine cellar for the dance/party.

Elegant, great dining, polished service. An oasis of civility.

Some furnishings are getting tired and need renewal. Same with elevators that need refinishing. Looking the worse for wear.

Bathroom beautiful, but lacks ventilation. Bedroom overlooking the river was delightful, but in the summer may be hot, with no A/C, which is a surprising omission.

We had afternoon tea here on Sunday and it was wonderful! So many choices of tea and delicious cakes and scones! It was great value. We couldn't finish it all so they boxed the leftovers up for us. Beautifully conserved hotel overlooking parkland and river. Polite and helpful staff. Room decor characterful but beginning to look slightly dated. Beautiful location, friendly staff. Will go again and again! Breakfast was lovely and rooms were comfortable and affordable. Concierge service was perfect. Any questions I had regarding the area or just to chat as I was there alone was appreciated. Managerial and front desk staff were efficient and friendly.
