The Dog Within

Over the years i have witnessed the rise in dogs being surrendered to rescues, found abandoned or just not wanted anymore. I have always had a passion for dogs and following the completion of my studies and qualifications I felt that my next step forward was to help those that were struggling with every day issues, quite often as result of dogs living in our busy and often confusing world.
My concerns for the welfare of our dogs continued when I discovered that there is no govening body for Canine Behaviourists which gives a free rein for un-qualified and uneducated people to lable themselves as Dog Trainers or Dog Behaviorists; often using adverse training methods which are detrimetal to a dogs well being! This led me onto offering my services to dog owners and becoming a full member of The Association Of INTO Dogs.

My name is Lorraine Cook, I am a fully qualified Canine Behaviourist! Having achieved my qualifications through ISCP (International School Canine Psychology) I then furthered these with Vetfolio, gaining a Fear Free Certification.
As a Fear Free Certified Behaviourist our mission is to prevent and alleviate fear, anxiety, and stress in pets by inspiring and educating the people who care for them.

I am a full member of INTO Dogs and The Dog Welfare Alliance ;As a full member of INTO Dogs we have a professional obligation to clients and the dogs in their care; we adhere to their code of practice which conforms with the Companion Animal Welfare Council. I also hold full liability insurance.

Following my passion for helping rescue dogs at the beginning of 2017 I became the resident behaviourist for Phoenix French Bulldog Rescue. Phoenix FBR rescue, rehabilitate and re-home French Bulldogs across the UK and I have to say the team I work with are awesome!

I also volunteer for ‘From Fear To Friends’ a group that gives support and help to children who suffer from Cynophobia, a fear of dogs! FFTF is an amazing group of trainers and dogs that come together twice a month on the borders of Surrey/Sussex.

My passion and understanding of dogs is what drives me to always be upto date with the latest canine behavioural studies and results. My ability to communicate with dogs by reading their body lanuage and peeling away the layers of behavioural issues to find the root of the problem is what sets me apart from other behaviourists! I aim to guide you on working together with your dog using only positive reward based training methods, to help build a strong and trusting relationship between both you and your dog.
