I have been training in martial arts for 30+ years and coaching for almost 25 years.
We offer private lessons in traditional karate to individuals and also self defence lessons to women, either individually or in groups.
Our small purpose built gymnasium in GU34 is also perfect for fitness for small groups of 1-2-1 personal training.

Since I started training with the academy some 12 years ago, I have found the level of instruction second to none. The classes are friendly and has a general good feel as everyone here is only too pleased to help others. The classes vary from the usual syllabus training, to practising Ju Jitsu on the mats and various combination improving exercises. Various high grade instructors from the academy visit frequently to make sure the the very high standard of the academy is being upheld. As well as karate being and excellent way of keeping fit, improving hand to eye coordination and a self defence, it also offers an opportunity to compete in competitions to world class level. Karate is now an Olympic sport which will be included in the next 2020 Olympic games. So if your young and want to compete in a highly dynamic sport you would be very welcome. What do you love most about your job?
Helping people of all ages improve their health, become more active/mobile and therefore more confident about everyday challenges.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I took redundancy at work, it was an offer too good to turn down, and it allowed me to chase my goal of full time sports instructing.
I had long been told I should be doing it professionally and had something to offer, so it was now or never!

I have many years coaching experience and have been taught by and learnt from, world renowned karate experts.
