Sophie was a great choice as she replied quickly and arranged a course to suit me. The only think I knew about taking a photo was to point and shoot. Sophie has taught me to understand about aperture, Shutter Speed, ISO, exposure and Photoshop. I have definitely learnt from her classes.My son is doing A level Photography at BHASVIC and felt that he needed to learn more about the functions of the camera and the different types of shots. From the moment of initial contact with Sophie she was friendly, helpful and took great care to understand our particular requirements for our wedding day, even visiting the venue to plan the photographs because I was unsure of how the decor /lighting of our venue would photograph best, and what options were available in case of bad weather. I'd only ever had 1 professional head shot before I enlisted the help of Sophie & it was a very different experience! As a small business owner I felt it was time to update my old photo and replace it with a more professional look but one which would still captured the essence of who I was. Right from the off, I was really impressed with Sophie's approach. She sent me a short but informative document to read over to help me prepare for the shoot. On the day, Sophie spent some time asking me about myself and my business which provided an opportunity to help me really think about what I wanted. During the shoot, Sophie's good humour and encouraging feedback put me at ease and I felt surprisingly relaxed. I loved it when she stopped me half way through and asked me to visualize my how passionately I felt about my business and how well it could do as a result. This definitely helped keep the energy up and was one of the final shots I chose. After the shoot we spent time going over them and with Sophie's help, managed to eventually whittle it down to 2. This woman is AMAZING!! How she managed to capture the personality of every single one of The Fashion School child fashionistas so perfectly is anyone's guess. ... but she did! Can you imagine?!? A bunch of very excited yet mucho nervous kids from as young as seven were charmed by Sophie into becoming relaxed and stylish little smilers in front of the camera. A miracle! What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Consider before you click!
When we look at the world with our eyes we automatically pull out of the environment what we want to see. When you next go for a nice walk, notice how you observe your environment and how selective you are in order to see what you want to see. The trick is to get our cameras to do a similar thing. The lens can actually be seen as an extension of our own optics, it’s just a matter of some basic understandings that can simplify the process. I often help people one-2one with their new digital camera, so they can enjoy photography more. I like to simplify and demystify the camera.

What inspired you to start your own business?
I always loved photography. When I started having kids, I would capture natural shots of children in nursery and photography requests started coming in. It built up from there.

People find me very personable and responsive to the needs and requirements of my clients. I've been doing this for year and always improving my skills so I can do even better.
My repeat clients say they love my work because my photography evokes emotion and I do find people feel photos.
