About

I am a qualified Athletics Coach, Movement and Running Technique specialist (and a PT).

I conduct Biomechanical assessments to spot weaknesses and thus minimise injury. I have had great successes with kids who appear clumsy and uncoordinated - resulting in better movement, more motivation to do sport and better academic results.

Running and Jogging Lessons

Worked with Anne-Marie in the buildup to London Marathon. She is extremely knowledgeable and professional, helped me hugely with my running form and has made me much more efficient and faster with only a few sessions.

Anne-Marie has been a fantastic coach for my first marathon. She helped me tailor my training plan to my needs/timeframe, gave me some excellent advice on warmup and conditioning, and helped me improve my training nutrition. I came to her feeling pretty unconfident about the race - but Anne-Marie's encouragement and guidance has set me back on track! More...

I would highly recommend, I’m a beginner runner and Anne-Marie has helped me through many stages of my training. Even in the current covid climate she checks in and is always there helping with aches and pains. I now have a solid plan for my marathon and feel very confident with my with marathon goal! More...

I started running as a complete beginner with Anne-Marie's very friendly group in 2018. At the time I was doing lot of long distance walking, so the idea was to naturally turn it a little faster in form of running.
After about a year of "group running sessions", I decided to do some 1-1 sessions with Anne-Marie to work on technique before increasing the mileage in order to prepare for my first half marathon and eventual Ultra marathon. In that first session I found out that I was never actually "running" , I was just "fast-walking"! Apparently that is different?!! Since then there was plenty of coaching, planning and hard work from Anne-Marie that led me to successfully run my first ultra marathon in 2020! The technique work was priceless! I stayed injury and physio free through the very heavy training. Lot of the coaching turned online as 2020 developed but if anything the value she provided only increased.

I would highly recommend using Anne-Marie's knowledge and experience in achieving whatever goal you set yourself up for irrespective of your starting point.

Anne-Marie took time to find out exactly what I wanted to achieve from the mot and what my goals were. She then explained in depth and with great knowledge what we were doing and why. She took the time to listen to me whilst at the same time providing some instant tips and ideas of things I could start working on to help improve my running. This was backed up with an excellent written report going into further depth and recapping what we covered during the session. I look forward to working with Anne-Marie in the future and cannot recommend her highly enough. More...

Anne-Marie helped me back from injury, increasing both speed and stamina. 👍👍 🏃

I contacted Anne-Marie for on-line support as I needed help with motivation and guidance to extend my running distance from 10km to 21km. Anne-Marie gave me knowledgeable and expert advice about the type and number of sessions I should be doing along with other types of training I should incorporate. I also received nutritional advice and information on warming up and stretching after my runs. Anne-Marie then followed up with a further session to check on my progress. I found her to be very approachable, motivating and understood my particular individual needs. I can highly recommend her as a running coach. More...

When Anne Marie first analysed my running style at runners MOT I hadn’t realised how much the habits I’d got into over the years had actually been causing me the injuries I’d been getting.
By breaking down each element of technique , analysing it from the slow motion clips and making small changes, both my speed and technique improved . The pressure on my knees, hips and back is now balanced and minimal making me feel stronger , but most importantly , preventing me from causing injury to myself when running .
Runners MOT have provided me with training plans to ensure good technique becomes habit over the process of a few weeks .
The ability to have remote 1-1’s has helped me to ensure I stay focused on my technique .
Specific exercises provided individually to me for weak areas have been very helpful .

Anne-Marie has been a godsend during lockdown. She has provided regular advice and encouragement on all aspects of running and fitness for me. She listened to my comments and really considered what would be helpful to me. My enthusiasm for running has really come from the support she has provided over the last couple of years. More...

Q&As

I love to help people reach their full potential, the recreational runner who can’t quite complete their first 5K without getting injured. The person completing their first marathon. The child who thinks they aren’t good at sport.

As a child I loved sport and trained and competed for many years. Running has been a real gift to me in terms of my physical and mental health and I always wanted to give something back. For many years I volunteered as a children’s coach at a local Athletics Club, eventually becoming the head endurance coach, I also trained to become a Personal trainer.

I worked for England Athletics as the Run Activator for Surrey, setting up, supporting and mentoring recreational running and walking groups all over Surrey. At the same time I worked my way up as far as I could as an England Athletics Coach. I started my own running group in 2011 - Any1canrun, introducing a 0-1 mile course to encourage beginner runners. I took on more coaches, so we could cater for more people and start a walking group for older people, one of our coaches also set a beginners cycling group Any1canride.

I was eager to acquire more knowledge to help my athletes and started training at the prestigious Running School in London to become a Certified Running Technique Specialist, also studying upper and lower body rehabilitation.

Three years ago I opened up my Running studio.

There are only 32 qualified Running Technique specialists in the UK, that combined with 15 years’ experience as an Endurance coach means I have a broad range of knowledge and practical experience. I can help you run efficiently, avoid injury and train consistently. A good coach can actually save you time and money in the long-term by reducing visits to the doctor, physio, chiropractor, etc. I am up-to-date with the latest training techniques and can put together excellent, individualised training plans which take the guesswork (and conflicting training advice) out of training. A holistic approach looks at lifestyle, nutrition, hydration, fuelling strength and conditioning to minimise injury and time off training. In the event of niggles or return from injury I have excellent rehabilitation protocols.
When coaching kids and beginners I am good at encouraging and motivating. For more experienced runners my sound technical skills and knowledge enable quick progression.

My remote coaching offer includes: consultations to discuss training history and goals, a monthly training plan, nutrition and fuelling advice, strength and mobility exercises to manage niggles and prevent injury, email support and as a bonus I can analyse personal running videos and provide useful feedback.

My studio and all equipment is cleaned after each client. I have an infrared thermal (no contact) temperature gun. I subscribe to the NHS track and trace system and have a QR code that can be scanned on arrival. I have a checklist of questions to ask each client. I wear a mask if I get near the client on the treadmill. Antibacterial hand gel is available before and after the session. My studio will not re-open until 12th April, as per Government guidance.

Most runners experience niggles and injuries, at some point in their career, this is often caused by doing too much too soon. Many niggles can be avoided by adopting a progressive running plan with built in rest. If you do have a niggle, or injury, I can look at your technique to see if there are muscle imbalances and prescribe the appropriate exercises to make sure you are back running again as soon as possible.

You might have tried the Couch to 5K programme and found it too hard. Many new runners get to about week 5 and find they get niggles and injuries such as shin splints. Research indicates that almost half of new runners do not complete traditional couch to 5K programmes because they are too short and can be too aggressive.

We be believe that once you have mastered the art of walking properly and can do so comfortably for 30 minutes, you are ready to insert a bit of jogging, not a full minute, but 15 seconds and allow yourself to build up gradually.

We have programmes for all abilities, we show you how to warm up properly and the importance of drills to prepare your body. Sustainable plans to help you establish a firm foundation so you can train consistently well into your 70s!

Many training plans are designed for men and do not take account the different female physiology and the effect that hormones have on our bodies.

Whether you are pre, or post menopause we can help you mitigate the effects of hormones.

During certain phases of the menstral cycle, female athletes are more prone to injury, at other times they are able to push harder. To train optimally it is important to take these factors into consideration.

Post-menopausal women face other issues as hormones fluctuate and decline, to mitigate this, attention must be paid to: rest and recovery, pacing, nutrition and strength training - we are equipped to advise on all these areas.

Many children do not enjoy sport, they may be demotivated or lack co-ordination, this may lead them to believe they will never be good at sport.

We have proven techniques which can help encourage and motivate children. Improved confidence can even have positive impact on academic performance.
