Rod was a pleasure to work with...an absolute pro! We had a small family 70th birthday celebration...ten people in total and Rod performed close quarters tricks that were absolutely amazing and worked for all ages (8-72). How long have you been interested in magic?
I became interested in magic after watching the David Blaine Magic special years ago. From then on I became obsessed with the art form and will be till the day I die!
Take us through your show – what can we expect?
When performing a Close-up magic gig, I will tend to arrive earlier than the guests in order familiarize myself with the environment and to finalize details with the event organizer. When guests arrive, I will begin to introduce myself to small groups and start performing my close up magic. Depending on the number of people at an event I will usually perform magic on a group 2-3 times throughout a performance. Whether guests are standing or sitting has no bearing on the magic that will be performed. If an event involves a meal for the guests, I will tend to table hop and perform magic between courses.
What do you love most about your job?
What I love most about performing magic is giving complete strangers a feeling of awe and a child-like excitement which they can find nowhere else. Furthermore, through performing magic, I have the opportunity to meet many interesting people who I often keep in contact with.
What inspired you to start your own business?
A wise man once said '"if you're good at something never do it for free!". We spend the majority of our lives working so we might as well do something we love!
Why should our clients choose you?
There are many magicians who when performing tend to go through the motions, performing the same old tricks and do not attempt to engage with guests. I, however, like to perform a unique style of magic, which incorporates my own personality and experiences. This is in order to give meaning to my magic, making it far more exciting and impactful, ensuring guests leave an event with a slightly more positive outlook on life.
