I have been a teacher of psychology the past 28 years; I am experience at working with the youth population and adults. I have studied different programs to help the children and adults to deal with a world full of competing demands, never-ending challenges, anxiety and stress.

I've been suffering from bouts of anxiety ever since my husband passed shy of three years ago. Mindfulness has worked wonders, and I have Angeles to thank for that!

Describe what it was like working with Rivermind

I began my experience with Rivermind believing Mindfulness was just about being "still" for a few moments. ...taking the time to smell the coffee, listen to the birds....but I now know it's far more than that. Following my weekly on-line sessions with Maria Martinez at Rivermind I now feel I have a greater understanding of how Mindfulness can be of benefit emotionally, mentally and physically. Maria is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable advocate of the subject and offers guidance and information with gentleness and patience. My personal Mindfulness journey will continue once our scheduled appointments have ended but with Maria's ongoing encouragement and support I feel I can confidently move forward and "be still" in a far more beneficial, constructive and meaningful way. As a teacher I have always wanted to help my students to develop the necessary skills to experience life with hope, enthusiasm and compasion in a path of discovery, to develop an intellectual and emotioal curiosity about the world.

I have 28 years of experience of teaching students and can offer them the necessary tools that will make a differences to their lives.

My mindfulness program will help you to increase your ability to regulate emotions, decrease stress, anxiety and depression. You will also learn to focus your attention on the "here and the now", as well as to observe your thoughts and feelings without judgment and offering you the chance to apply these skills in your every day life.

Learning to practice mindfulness it is a powerful tool for children and adolescent not only to develop essential social and emotional competencies, but to overcome stress, anxiety, attention problem, depression, emotional regulation, impulsive behaviour, lack of motivation , trauma and neglect.
