I’ve used Richard for a number of years pretty much every week. He is very knowledgeable and professional with respect to any issues I might have be it an injury or another non-injury issue. He is also great for preventive treatments, which has definitely cut down potential injuries.I couldn’t recommend him enough. More...

I saw Richard recently having suffered with a shoulder problem for a few weeks which was affecting my ability to exercise. He was very professional and informative, and thankfully after one appointment and having followed his aftercare advice the discomfort I was experiencing has completely gone. Would highly recommend. After months of discomfort from a build up of stress and tension in my upper back, shoulders and neck in particular, Richard was recommended to me. Well qualified and knowledgable in his field, and very professional in his initial and ongoing assessment and any advice given. 80-90% improvement after only 3 sessions. Will continue with regular sessions for maintenance. Highly recommend. More...

I’ve been visiting Richard on pretty much a weekly basis for nearly two years. I initially saw him due to regularly tearing my calf muscles playing sport. Having seen a number of physiotherapists, Richard was the first person to correctly diagnose the issue and rectify it. Richard is very knowledgeable and professional - would highly recommend him. However, don’t all use him as I won’t be able to get an appointment! More...

If you have any sort of muscular injury or issue then I’d highly recommend sports therapy, and Richard’s been my therapist for two years and he’s been excellent. I’m an amateur runner, plus some weight training. I schedule a monthly “maintenance” session because I’m often picking up little niggles and so in any given month there will be something to work on. In fact, some months I think I’m all fine but Richard will discover some tightness or trigger point I didn’t even realise was there! More...

I highly recommend Rick for the services and advice he offers. Rick clearly knows his stuff and always gets to the root of the problem, he solves any injury and niggle I pick up through weight training. Every single session, Rick quickly reduces pain using various techniques, offers advice on managing injuries as well as showing me injury specific rehabilitation exercises to get me back to full strength. I initially went to Richard for a sports and remedial massage to resolve an issue with my shoulder, having visited various different Bishop's Stortford based Sport Massage Therapists and previously found that some believe the more it hurts the more good it is doing (which I can safely say often isn't the case) I was sceptical about trying another but Richard's knowledge was excellent and soon had my shoulder feeling great. Being a regular gym goer and weight lifting I naturally have my fair share of muscle knots and tightness. I since found Sports Massage once a week with Richard to be a great injury prevention method and found myself being able to do more in the gym. I can highly recommend Richard. More...

Q&As

Owning my own business and helping people out of a life of pain and discomfort.

I am a level 5 therapist. Currently the highest qualification for a sports massage therapist (although level 6 is pending).

Services

All treatments begin with an initial consultation involving a postural assessment and extensive injury assessment and are followed by a treatment plan tailored to the individual. I use numerous advanced soft tissue techniques to ensure issues are resolved quickly and efficiently. These sessions can also help reduce stress and tension which builds up as part of our busy lives as well as scar tissue which builds up naturally as a response to muscle injury. The key point is they help clients return from soft tissue injury as quickly as possible. I see all injuries ranging from minor day to day issues caused, for example, by bad posture at work, to full time sporting pursuits. Many of my clients also include deep tissue massage treatments in order for them to stay injury free. My services include:

Injury consultation and assessment
Deep tissue massage
Treatments for all ages*
Comprehensive rehabilitation advice following injury
Advanced treatment techniques
Remedial exercise advice
Treatment to prevent injury and loss of mobility
Postural advice and realignment to relieve areas of pain or tension
Preparation for sporting events offering enhanced recovery times and increased performance. (Pre and post event work - marathons/triathlons/10K’s)
Muscle Energy Techniques (MET)
Neuro-Muscular Technique (NMT)
Soft Tissue Release (STR)
Myofascial Release
