Emily was a wonderful architect to work with. She struck the right balance for us between listening to what we wanted and envisaged, while bringing into consideration the concepts and details that took the work to a better level. These made a big difference. Emily has done two different house extensions for us. In the first she was the managing architect, a role in which she was the courteous and calm interface between us and our builders. In the second, she did the planning, and set up the contract and statement of work, and we took it from there, using the same builders as before. The outcome in both met or exceeded our expectations. Emily worked on two designs for us together with a fence and planting application. She submitted the plans for pre-planning consideration and then for full planning permission and liaised with the council for us.

Emily worked well with us, working to our brief and needs whilst introducing her own ideas. She has recently designed a chalet bungalow for us, which is a complete renovation of our existing property. From her own initiative she neatly incorporated into the design a play room, utilising a part of our garden that was otherwise out of use. This simple addition has provided us with extra space as well as enhanced our requirement to bring the ‘outside in’ and can also be used as a garden room.

Prior to submitting the application she had liaised with the planning department at the Council so that our plans had the best possible chance of being accepted upon first application.

In addition, she produced designs for a art deco house for us, which again drew on her flare and creative streak.

Emily has a nice manner, which is well respected by the planners, meaning you can be confident she will liaise with them to your benefit. Further, she was very professional and polite in dealing with me and my husband, speaking in plain English. My husband, who works in construction, was very impressed with her plans and her ability to make the most of our awkward plot.

I highly recommend her and have referred her to a number of my friends.
