We stayed for 3 nights and the main reason for staying was to meet up with our daughter and son-in-law for a Christmas get together. The hotel looked even more beautiful with all the festive decorations and the Christmas Tree in the foyer was spectacular! |Even though the hotel was very busy with lots of events, the service was excellent from everyone we encountered. An extra mention must go to the Events organiser who arranged for the four of us to have a festive lunch on the Saturday when no Christmas lunches were scheduled. Talk about a hotel going the extra mile - What fabulous service! Megan who served our lunch was great - very attentive, very pleasant and professional. She even took a couple of photos for us! All the food was exceptional. |Our bedroom was furnished to a high standard and had a great view out to sea. It was beautifully clean, comfortable bed and warm.|| More...

I confess to having a soft spot for these old seaside hotels and the reception area was not disappointing.| There is work going on to upgrade rooms and we didn't hear a thing during our entire stay. Our room had a lovely view but sadly wasn't one of the upgraded rooms. The room was warm, facilities in the room good. The bathroom was pretty awful and I really hope you plan on removing those awful wall mounted hair dryers soon. My biggest disappointment with the bathroom it smelled of cigarettes, not the staffs fault and they apologised and offered to reclean it.|The staff were great, really welcoming and friendly. The hotel was within an easy walk of central Portsmouth. | It's likely we will revisit Portsmouth again in the future and it would be nice to stay here again but I will be asking for one of the newly refurbished rooms. The Queens is a lovely hotel with excellent, friendly staff and elegant public spaces. I stayed for two nights, with my son, and we had a refurbished twin room which was a good size and tastefully decorated. The modern bathroom had a lovely powerful shower.||||Once we sampled the food in the restaurant, we didn't bother going out to find anywhere else to eat. The food was good quality and very good value for money. The fact that the staff were excellent, as well as friendly, added to the convivial atmosphere.||||I'm now looking forward to introducing some more of my family to the delights of The Queens. 2 night stay in a lovely large room with modern bathroom. Half board breakfast and evening meal very good. Nice atmosphere and lovely historic decoration in entrance and dinning room. Relaxed bar area and very attentive staff throughout the hotel. ||Enjoyed our two day stay.||Sour taste left after an incorrect registration digit number inputted to parking screen and a £100 charged received in the post about three weeks later. Hotel have no input to changing this charge. Even though I sent proof of using the facilities and spending money to Parking eye, the appeal I put into Parking eye came back saying I still had to pay £20 fine, for my carelessness inputting at the touch screen at reception.||Enjoy your stay but double check you parking input on arrival. We went to this Hotel to celebrate our 34 wedding anniversary, prior to going to the ballet. It is obvious that the Hotel is undergoing extensive renovation. Certain areas are restored to there former Edwardian glory and other areas still await the obvious high standard of refurbishment being undertaken by the owners, who should be encouraged in their endeavours, for eventually they will have a wonderful building, which their staff deserve, who were friendly, helpful and courteous. Special mention to the lady restaurant manager and a young waiter called Jack, who were excellent. The Jazz musician was also very good, who played throughout our stay in the restaurant. The carvery consisted of excellent beef, Turkey and gammon, with a good medley of root vegetables, roast potatoes, broccoli and sugar snap peas all on offer. The cauliflower cheese however was somewhat watery. Good traditional puddings were also available (crumble etc or lighter mousses, cheesecakes etc. Linen table clothes and good quality cutlery matched the ambiance of the dining room - shame therefore about the paper napkins, which do not belong in The Queens. The ambition of returning this hotel to its former structural glory is obvious. The staff who we came across were very good. The restaurant prices were about right, though the wine prices appeared rather heavy, for the quality on offer. We will visit again, for good traditional Hotels are alas somewhat thin on the ground and The Queens has the possibility to become a very fine "truly traditional Edwardian venue". More...

From the moment we arrived, the stress just fell away. Elegant surroundings and the most pleasant staff greeted us. There were flowers, chocolates and champagne waiting for me, a romantic touch ordered by my partner. Towel swans and rose petals on the bed added to the romantic atmosphere. Unfortunately the sea view my partner thought he had booked was not to be. After going to reception , this was resolved and we were taken to our sea view room by an outstanding young man called Shay. The sea view was wonderful. Dinner that night in the restaurant after drinks in the bar completely rounded off our stay....perfection! The food was superb. The staff were again outstanding. Mario and the prettiest little waitress whose name I am shocked to say I have forgotten! Were absolutely brilliant! Nothing was too much trouble, so friendly and gracious. We ended the evening in another room listening to a fabulous jazz band, thankyou Mario! All in all, one of the best hotel stays we have experienced if not the best! More...

Absolutely recommend this Hotel. We stayed here for one night whilst attending a concert. Its quite obvious that they are renovating the Hotel and what they have achieved so far looks really nice. Nice touches in room , with biscuits and shower gels etc. The bed was so comfortable, possibly the best sleep i have had for ages.
