My name is Martin Briggs, I am a certified and fully approved instructor – Academy Of Dog Training & Behaviour (ADTB) and a member of the Association Of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT), and I own & run Positive Plus Dog Training. Martin is an outstanding trainer. He is calm and patient and his understanding of dogs is pretty much perfect. My German Shepherd has come on leaps and bounds since meeting Martin.

We adopted a 4 year old dog and at the start it was impossible to go even for short walks with him as he pulled so much on the leash and didn't listen to any commands while outside. We were almost ready to give up. However, once Martin started training with us through regular lessons and home work, our dog's behaviour changed rapidly. Martin is loved by our dog and his patient training approach showed results very fast. Our dog is now much better behaved on and off the leash and can even walk at heel. Martin tailored his lessons around our requirements, suggesting practical solutions and always being honest about what we can achieve within the time we had. We cannot recommend Martin and his training approach high or often enough. More...

If you're looking for the best dog trainer in this area - in my opinion, if you're reading this review then you've found him. I now have the dream dog that I honestly didn't think was possible a few months ago. BUT - you have to stick with what Martin says - it's not just a "one lesson" quick fix. AND - don't expect him to come in and immediately "goo" over how gorgeous your dog is - why? - well, you'll find out if you work with Martin. My sister got a new Labrador puppy. Martin was very helpful, supportive and gave lots of very good advice. He was clear, encouraging and provided excellent reading material/info. He showed how to start off well with things like toilet training, and ways of handling and caring for a puppy. I contacted Martin as my dog had become reactive to certain dogs when walking her on a lead which, in turn, was making me very anxious and getting to the point where I didn't want to walk her anymore. Very reassuring and supportive throughout, Martin's training techniques have proven to be very successful. We started by going completely back to basics with obedience and I can't stress enough that if you follow Martin's techniques and persevere with the training you will see a remarkable difference in your dog's behaviour.I would have no hesitation in recommending him. I had a problem with my dog Jack constantly chewing the furniture and trying to hump guests each time they came to visit. After a few sessions with Martin he's like a different dog ! Jack is much calmer and has diverted his chewing to his chewtoys only, and also curbs his urges to hump visitors. I can now have friends over without Jack 'attacking' my poor unsuspecting guests! After re-homing a 5 month delightful Cocker Spaniel we contacted Martin to help and support us with a few issues that she came with. I contacted Positive Plus Dog Training in February after taking on a rescue dog with very aggressive tendencies towards other dogs. When confronted with another dog (even if it was on the other side of the road), my rescue without warning would try and attack. When Martin told me we could eventually get her to a level of walking side by side with another dog I didn't believe him AT ALL, but thought any improvement was better so persevered. Throughout the training Martin was patient, reassuring, generous with his time and knowledge, and above all a genius; as I'm proud to say that at our last training session (in July) my dog walked alongside another dog without a care in the world, and even had a sniff at each-other. We had tried other training methods and turned to Positive Plus for help - it was the best thing we could have done! Martin reassured us that we could get our dog through it and provided clear, practical help. He taught us how to teach our dog obedience training and how to use that around other dogs (as our dog was aggressive on the lead). We can now walk our dog around other dogs no problem and are amazed at the results. Martin was great with our dog (and us) and I would totally recommend Positive Plus to other dog owners.
