I needed a selection of images to use on social media - essentially me, in a variety of poses, holding a board, on which I could superimpose messages.
My goodness - what a great session we had. I was expecting endless standing around, waiting for stuff to happen. Not a chance. Phil was totally prepared and, in no time, was clicking away. He understood the brief perfectly. In fact, he understood better than I did myself - coming up with ideas and little extras which hadn't crossed my mind.

What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
It's often all about the lighting. If you're photographing people, then once you have made them relaxed and at ease, then the correct lighting will make or break a photo. For static things like products, great lighting can make the difference and brings the images to life.
Composition is also vital and is what people often mean when they say that someone has a "good eye for a photo", it means they automatically know how to position themselves (and the subject) so that the resulting photos are amazing.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
It's often rare when someone knows exactly what they want or need, so I will often start by asking why they are getting the photographs done.
If it's product photography, then what is their target audience and are the photos just for online use or for magazine or posters as well. If they are looking for business portraits or actor portfolio shots then what is their main purpose for getting the shots done and what media are they being used in - are they wanting indoor or outdoor and natural or rural (city) settings or with backgrounds, And do they want the results in colour or black and white (although we always provide both).
What are their timescales for getting the images done?, Are they looking for indoor studio type shots or outdoors?
Will they need actual prints or just digital images?
Can they give me an idea of their budget?
What do you love most about your job?
Meeting People. I love what I do with a passion. Every photoshoot is different and always presents different challenges which are fun to solve.
It might be because some products reflect light in a tricky way or a person hates having their photos taken, we find then generally they are small and varied issues that, through experience and a bit of time, we can easily overcome.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have been taking photos for over 40 years (15 as a full time professional). I worked many years ago in retail (at Dixons) and so could take hope any camera and lens that I wanted to borrow and really use them in the real world. This allowed me to honestly recommend to customers what they needed to buy in order to take the types of photos they wanted.
This lead to a passion for photography that has stayed with me - I'm excited now, producing the results that people really love and that they need.
I have seen some of the underpar results out there and this led me to starting PJB Photography Ltd in 2005.

Business Portraits and Headshots

It’s no good having an out of date image there or worst still an image from a wedding or a holiday snap (unless that’s the look you're going for of course).

We work very closely with you to make sure that we understand your target market and how you are going to be marketing your goods.
This allows us to take a series of eye-catching shots that make your products stand out from the crowd and sell.
We also make sure that we understand your time scales and budgets so that both of these are met.
Actor / Model - Headshots / Portfolio Shoots
Your image matters!! A LOT.
You need photos that sum up your personality and talent and that really gets you noticed.
We can create, with you, a set of stunning, impactful images that will stop people and make them look.
We’ll discuss with you, in detail, what you are currently doing and what you are looking to do in the near future and then plan a shoot that will create the images that you need.
We can do these shots in a studio environment, outdoors in a variety of settings, or pretty much wherever you want, that will produce the final results that you need.
We can then provide these images to you either untouched or fully retouched (again we will discuss this with you) and as image files in High resolution as well as “ready for Social Media” sized. We can also provide prints as needed.
PR Photography
We understand that you need images quickly that tell a story and have impact.
We work closely with you to find out what you are looking to achieve and from there capture a set of images that get the job done.
We edit immediately and can often have finished results to you within an hour of taking the last of them.
We supply images to you using www.wetransfer and provide Hi Resolution images and also images to the size and specification that you request.
We can work with your clients at locations that may be far from where your offices are so providing you with a valuable local resource.
Pet Photography
I can come to you and do a full photography session with your beloved friend.
Whether it is a Dog, Cat, Snake, Horse or anything else, we can come and get some amazing shots.
We can do this at your home, stables, or at any outdoor location that you want.
We'll discuss costs with you and you'll get some photos and images included in the sitting as standard.
We have taken shots of a huge range of dogs, cats, snakes, reptiles, horses, ferrets, meerkats, birds, fish just to name a few.
We can do studio type setups at you home as well and have a wide range of backgrounds that we use.
