Q&As

Unlocking potential in people, teaching them no only the knowledge of piano playing and musical structure, but the understanding of their own body and mind.

Our practice welcomes beginners, intermediate and advanced-level students of all ages and backgrounds. Started out of pure necessity to create a method that would enable me to develop and improve my own technique, Piano-Yoga® has undergone a series of transformations, currently evolving not only as a unique piano technique, but also as a lifestyle philosophy and well-being discipline. It is designed especially for musicians, whether professional or amateur players, even providing a special training for children as the method embraces the needs of everyone who is attempting to learn this beautiful instrument and aims to create an holistic approach to piano education.

The secret of Piano-Yoga® lies in combining traditional piano tuition with yogic approach to training the body and mind, which creates a correct mindset and a feeling of well-being, that are essential for learning an instrument, and especially, piano.

Piano-Yoga® main teaching principles:

To teach the student to learn the piano to his/her higher ability
To fully support the individuality of the student
To develop a strong sense of self-confidence in each student
To help the student think and feel like an independent & creative musician
To pay significant attention to the whole body-mind process
To develop a positive attitude towards the learning process
To teach the student well-being practices that he/she can use on daily basis
I also apply the same teaching philosophy to children and young people. Amongst my students are recipients of many music scholarships and awards that include The Westminster School Music Scholarship, Camden School for Girls Music Scholarship, prize winners at the North London Festival, the Windsor Festival, The Dulwich Festival, The Watford Festival, the Around the Globe Piano Music Festival, the West London Annual Pianoforte Festival, the Eton Honorary Music Exhibition award and The Westminster School Competitions, to name a few. My practice has a successful track record of graded exams at Associated Board and Trinity Guildhall Boards with levels ranging from Grade 1 to the Performance Certificate and Teaching Diplomas.

As a Piano-Yoga® member and student of my practice, I would be very happy to embrace you either as a pupil or parent in our community; you will be able to participate in our regular concerts and have the opportunity to play in various Festivals and other public venues, as well as enjoying priority booking to our wide range of events, which include concerts, workshops, masterclasses and other musical and well-being gatherings.

If you would like to find out more please look through our pages or give us a call - my team and myself will be happy to help and suggest the most suitable programme for your needs.

And if you are not based in London, don't fear; I am now offering online Skype tuition too.

I look forward to welcoming you to our Piano-Yoga® community!

GéNIA

Piano-Yoga® method is extremely effective, as it offers the most efficient way not only to practice, but to play and to learn. If you would like to do the Graded system of piano playing in the UK then we will aim for 2 grades covered in one year. If you would like to play piano for your own pleasure, then you will learn a lot about your own body and mind and how best to use it ( and improve) in learning the instrument. Piano-Yoga®. "Piano-Yoga® helped me release tension, and simply concentrate on playing the piano. GéNIA's approach to tuition makes practice a pleasure." Jamie Telford, composer.
