My 13 year old son started having piano lessons with Doug about 1 and a half years ago. He has gone from being a complete beginner to playing pieces that sound really lovely and it is a pleasure to listen to him play. Doug makes the lessons fun and has endless patience. My son is about to take his first theory exam and I am impressed with his understanding of theory which would not be possible without Doug's teaching and support. Having started learning quite late on, I found that he is happy to adapt teaching to your own goals and preferences, while ensuring that basic concepts and techniques are still covered. For two years on a weekly basis I have been having piano lessons from doug, in that time I have successfully passed all exams, learnt some amazing pieces of music even above my grade - this is only achieved by the encouragement, support and the desire doug has to give me and all his students the best tuition possible. My daughter has been attending piano lessons with Doug for 4 years. She started when she was 7 and is just about to take her Grade 3 exam, she turned 11 in August. My daughter has been having piano lessons with Doug for ten years now. Doug always takes time to make the lessons fun and is very patient. She has gone from not being able to play at all to having passed several practical and theory exams, and now able to pick up most pieces within a lesson or two. Trying to fit piano in with so many other commitments isn't easy, but Doug is always flexible and changes lessons when we need. She is now 16 and still really enjoys her time with Doug learning new tunes. I would recommend Doug to anyone wishing to learn or improve their piano skills. More...

The satisfaction of pupils achieving their goals with their music, be it exams or pleasure play.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have played Piano, Organ and Keyboards from a young age, so being able to work and earn from something I love doing inspired myself to work for myself.

Experience, over 38 years, and a friendly, patient atmosphere to learn in, makes a huge difference to progression. I teach on a one to one basis, therefore giving client full attention.
