How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
Most garages are suitable for conversion. Points to consider are quality of existing structure, roof quality, floor quality and access. Usually a garage conversion will come under permitted development and most importantly, building control.
Run us through the different stages of the Garage conversion process - what's involved?
An initial visit from myself to check out basic suitability at the onset.
Followed by a budget quote to make sure that you understand what the works will cost approximately.
If it's something that you are prepared to proceed with then the first thing is to contact local planning and talk to a surveyor about what it is you propose to do. They will normally ask for a drawing outlining your proposal and will then tell you how to proceed.
Before any work is undertaken all utilities must be located. Garage can then be stripped internally and works can go ahead under the local building offices guidelines.
How long have you been in business?
I've been in the building industry for over 35 years. Starting in office partitioning I moved into learning bricklaying and plastering. I ran my own roofing company for over 20 years and went to college during this time to learn the trade of leadwork. I've built three natural swimming pools including associated landscape work. I've built many extentions and loft conversions along with completing hundreds of new roofs both slated and tiled.

I welcome building control to look at any or all of my work during and after completion. Once signed off the work is fully guaranteed.
What do you love most about your job?
To be able to stand back and get the wow factor on completion.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I've worked for myself or ran my own business since the age of 21 and I was inspired by the love of manual work and the freedom that came with working for myself.
