There are dog walkers and then there's Richard. He goes above and beyond what most others would do as part of their dog walking remit, both physically and mentally. He's offered us and our dog so much more than just a bit of exercise to break up the day while we're at work - our rescue girl was a bit unpredictable and reactive towards other dogs when she first came to live with us, but 8 months later she's now on group walks and seemingly loves everyone! She's still learning everyday but under Richard's careful and thoughtful tutelage, we have no qualms that she's in capable hands and that she will continue to go from strength to strength. Don't know of many other dog walkers who will take your dog running either! She loves him and even if we didn't have the 'need' for a dog walker during the day anymore I think we'd still want him, just because he brings so much enrichment to her day! More...

What do you love most about your job?
The best part of the job is two-fold, firstly working with animals is always enjoyable and I have always loved to be in their company. I also love knowing that keeping peoples animals fit and healthy has a beneficial effect on the health of their owners. The second aspect is the bonus of getting to be out in the great outdoors with the dogs that I walk. I am passionate about our national parks and outdoor spaces for the positive impact on our environment and overall health. We are very lucky in Great Britain to have such wonderful expanses of free to access countryside and wild areas and it is a privilege to be out in them every week.
What inspired you to start your own business?
It is something I had been considering for some time. My personal circumstances changed and I wanted to make the most of that change, so I set up Peak Dog Walking. This allowed me to follow my interests in animals and the great outdoors. Starting my own business also allowed me maintain a control on how the business is to be run and to choose specific aspects such as the number of dogs to be walked at any one time to make sure that all the animals can receive the focus and attention that they deserve and maximise their well being.
Why should our clients choose you?
I am honest and provide personal reliable service. I have been DBS checked and have a LANTRA accredited qualification in pet sitting and dog walking including pet first aid. My service is professional and you will be provided with appropriate documentation and service agreements to assure you of my approach to the care of your pet. When walking dogs I always try to vary the location as I find this provides the dog with more mental stimulation than following the same old routes.
I provide a free home consultation and bookings cannot be confirmed until this has taken place in order that you can get to know me and I can meet your pet in their home surroundings and find out everything I need to know. My number one concern is your pets's welfare and I will treat your pet as it it were my own.
