Natalie has been absolutely amazing with my miniature schnauzer. He was very unfocused, hyper and barky on walks. Walking him was far from a rewarding experience but Natalie has given me a wide range of different tips and games to use to keep him calm and I can see a massive improvement in his behaviour. Even better my dog cannot wait for sessions with Natalie and absolutely adores training with her. I can't thank Natalie enough for all her help. More...

Natalie has been working with us for the past month dealing with our dogs separation anxiety. She is clearly very knowledgeable, experienced and dedicated to helping with our problem. She is always there when I’m struggling with words of reassurance and support. Would highly recommend. More...

I highly recommend PTT to anyone wanting to reduce the stress of walking a reactive dog. My Jack Russell, Wally, is 7 years old and walking him is a bit of a nightmare - Natalie at PTT is really helping us work together and Wally is so much more relaxed when on a walk, after only 3 sessions. After the first one I was feeling a bit overwhelmed with information, but Natalie sent me some notes on what we had covered, and then at the next session we improved the techniques.

It is a completely positive experience, and Wally really enjoys it too. We still have a way to go, but it give me hope that he will soon have learnt how to be out and about, and a normal dog enjoying his walks, rather than always looking for the next dog to get worked up about.

I think the service and knowledge is very good value for money, the sessions are tailored to your needs, and it's also great to see that Natalie genuinely loves dogs. She is super friendly and I don't feel silly if I make mistakes!

Behaviour Consultations

Working closely with vets
At the point the client decides to go ahead with a behavioural consultation, we send out a veterinary referral form to be signed by the vet, once the dog has had a full examination. This is to rule out medical issues that can be a contributing factor in a number of behavioural problems seen in domestic dogs.

We also ask that the client gives us permission to have a copy of the dogs full medical history that will be used as part of the behavioural analysis, this can usually be obtained at the veterinary appointment, we would also be happy for this to be sent directly to us from the vets if this is easier for the client (please note we will require the medical history a week prior to the consultation). Most vets in Nottingham and the surrounding areas are familiar with this system.

Behavioural Consultation Process
A behaviour questionnaire will be sent to the client which we ask to be filled out and returned a week prior to the consultation. We usually follow this up with a phone call a few days prior to the consultation, so we can discuss the questionnaire in more detail.

On the day of the consultation we ask for everyone living in the household to be present, and depending on the nature of the problem we usually start the consultation by going for a walk with the dog, once we have had a chat with everyone in the household. The consultation usually lasts 60-90 mins.

A full behaviour report will then be written up and sent to the clients, as well as the vet between 7-14 days after the consultation, this will include a training plan for the client to follow. Any suggested changes to the dogs diet, medication etc will need to be signed off by the vet.

The consultation includes a follow-up appointment which can be arranged within three months of the initial consultation to see how the client is progressing, and to update the training plan if necessary.
