About

I love weddings. It’s a long day; actually it’s a long few days. I probably spend as much time as you getting ready, a different ready maybe (no makeup involved!). Charging batteries, checking lighting, cleaning lenses. During the day I am always working, always looking for the shot, looking for the story.

Q&As

Thats easy. When I am photographing a Wedding I spend the day with two families and a group of their friends. Everyone is happy and pleased to be there. I spend the day doing what I love to do and I get paid for it! It is the same when I photograph a family just for less time.

Afterwards I give the couple an album, something physical, something beautiful that they will treasure and I created it!

There aren't many jobs where you can say that.

I have been a photographer since the age of 13 but decided to move into a career in IT. I enjoyed the work and I met many great people but I never actually created anything you see or touch. As I rose the corporate ladder it was less about creating systems and more about budgets and pieces of paper.

I took the decision in 2008 to change my life and career and it is one of the best decisions I ever made.

I have friends in the business who find photographing Weddings extremely stressful so refuse to do them. Its all about the preparation and knowing the flow of the day. I understand the day, when to look for those moments of stillness amongst the chaos; the wistful bride or bridesmaid; the touch of the new Mr and Mrs.

I have a relaxed and friendly style and I love working with people to get genuine emotions. Even a stiff formal family group look more natural - its all about the timing I use the image just before or just after the false smile.

Apart from the portraits and couple shots I use Leica cameras which are less intimidating than a full size camera with huge lenses allowing me to mingle with your family guests and capturing their reactions more naturally. The other bonus is that Leica lenses offer better image quality,

I continually look to develop my photography and I really invest heavily in my training and education; for example I studied portraiture with the Portrait photographers for the The Guardian Newspaper and The Sunday Times.

I have chosen products which are different from those offered by many photographers as they suit my style a little better. My favourite is the Folio Art Album. The textured paper used makes the images pop out of the page.
