We’ve been absolutely delighted with Paul’s work, both as architect and project manager, for our l-shaped dormer loft conversion. His work has been of a very high standard and he has been efficient and reliable throughout the whole project. Paul made the whole process stress-free for our family and with minimum disruption (which was particularly important given we have a small child) whilst always being pleasant and approachable. The tradesman he coordinated also spoke very highly of his work. We would certainly recommend! More...

We hired Paul as architect and project manager for a terrace house dormer loft conversion.

He kept to the brief, anticipated problems, strove to keep costs down for us, found all the tradesmen, acted as a first point of contact for when things went wrong, visited regularly to check on their progress. He was always prompt.

We're delighted with the results, it was about as hassle free an experience as one could hope for. We couldn't have done it without him.

Highly recommended.

Paul was professional and knowledgable, he was always willing to put in extra effort to ensure a good job was done by himself, and by other tradespeople that we hired. As an architect he worked hard to get exactly what we wanted and was happy to redraw and remake plans when we needed him to. As a pr... More...

Q&As

Measure height between ceiling joist and ridge timber. Bear in mind that Building Control Regulations will reduce this height with thermal insulation and structural alterations. The loft height should be at least 2.6 metres or 8.5 feet for a roof light only conversion, can be less for a dormer conversion. I will check feasibility during my first meeting.

Assuming Planning Consent is not required because project fulfils Permitted Development requirements. Building Control Approval is obligatory.
1. I carry out survey
2. I design loft conversion
3. we discuss the design and I change drawings and specifications
4. Structural Engineer does load calculations
5. I apply for Building Control Approval.
6. on receiving approval tradesmen can start work.
7. Project Management Service is optional.
