At first, seems professional but a bit too keen to boast about their performance. Alarm bells should have rang. What should have taken a week took him 1-2 months. Plenty of broken promises! Extremely unreliable! Rio cut corners and blamed me for not accepting shoddy substandard work. For example, the join between the floors under the door frame were sticking out - a clear trip hazard - and I was told it was acceptable and then eventually that it was my fault. Scratched new door handles because he clearly couldn't be bothered to get a screwdriver. Coping stones put on outside wall were a mess, like a child did it. He had to redo it but not without trying to convince me it was acceptable. The walls rendered were a mess and I had to ask several times to have it tidied up. Still looks shoddy. I had to ask him about 4 times for him to trim some foliage, which he had charged me for, and he still hasn't done it properly ("please trim to 2 metres"), and tried to blame me for that too. And to top it all off THE PAINT ON THE OUTSIDE OF MY PROPERTY IS DISSOLVING. That's right, it rained a bit, and now the paint is dripping off my external walls, and he does not want to put it right. He also threw a bunch of metalwork/plastic rubbish into my garden bin, which now means it's contaminated and I'm stuck with it. He could have just put it in the proper bin next to it, which I think epitomises his attitude. And his attitude - he became very aggressive, nothing is ever his fault apparently. More...
