Imagine a leader who, before his passion became a worldwide topic of discussion, took action which resulted in an amazing change. Imagine this leader daring to trust his dream to the point of overcoming not one, but several, failed attempts; overcoming language barriers, cultural clashes and the ultimate tension that exists between nature and capitalism; achieving his dream – and so much more than he could ever have imagined – in one of the greatest stories of determination and tenacity.
Leadership is everywhere, although, without wanting to get too embroiled in controversy, we may sometimes be forgiven for feeling that it is nowhere. The point is, at any given moment, any of us can lead. Many of the skills needed are innate, albeit in need of polishing and refining for true success. Whether we are driven by inspiration or desperation; a rough diamond or a shining example; our inner leader is there waiting for a reason to show up.
And yet, we seem to have put leadership in a box marked ‘business’. We don’t celebrate these skills in everyday life even though they can be transformational in everything we do.
The adventure I experienced, alongside my partner Ric, to find primary rainforest in Papua New Guinea, is a tale of our own personal mission and how it became a legacy for a whole tribe of people and led to the founding of Outstanding.Global.
Every element of leadership in which we coach today was experienced and, in many cases, learned and embedded, during this period in my life. We didn’t know that was what we were doing but, with hindsight, the parallels are stark.
Ask yourself: is leadership a noun or a verb? My question here may be tongue-in-cheek, but it is no less valid: surely to lead requires one to act? They call it ‘walking the talk’ but it seems that where we are rich with cliches and quips, we are very much poorer in action. This is why, at Outstanding.Global, we believe in the truly holistic approach. We need to drive towards successful leadership with every active, thought and belief. To do so creates something truly outstanding.
Over the 30+ years that I worked prior to setting up Outstanding.Global in my 70's, my principles and values have been fully and holistically explored, tested, challenged and reinforced. But the market has changed dramatically over the past two years. It has not been supportive of the re-humanising that we value and aspire to, but rather digital evolution has sped up and people have become more isolated. We are adapting as best we can while staying faithful to what we believe.

Outstanding.Global can provide remote services. We can hold 1-1 online sessions for coaching, online group sessions for leadership training and even motivational speaking from afar.

All of our services are COVID safe as they can be offered remotely. As the world begins to open up again, we take all precautions when we do travel to events.
