North Brighton Recording gave enormous sensitivity and care to the development of our album Sense of Place.Mike, the owner and resident engineer demonstrated all the technical skills to support the production and postproduction of the project. He captured an excellent balance of sound for our live recording which was in a resonant church and then demonstrated great skill of listening and musicianship in the adjustment and subtle enhancement of sound during post-production. We liked working with Mike because he is first and foremost a skilled musician who applies his understanding of sound to the technical challenges of studio recording. His calm and welcoming presence made everyone feel comfortable and free to be creative. The studio is of a high quality with an excellent acoustic Yamaha piano that also has a midi interface. A selection of keyboards and guitars was also at hand. A wide range of professional plug-ins really helped to get the perfect mix. Absolutely recommend this studio as top notch. We used NBR for the first time, we had our Ep recorded, mixed and mastered by Mike. I speak for the band when I say,working with Mike was a joy. He has produced something amazing for us and we couldn't be happier! The studio is situated in a nice quiet location with ample FREE parking nearby. I’m not lying by saying that was one of the most enjoyable recording experiences I have had and I have been in many. Also the result sounds fantastic. I really enjoyed working with Mike too. It's also lovely to have natural light in a studio, you don't end up feeling hemmed in or get that studio head ache. I would recommend NBR to any artist, band of any level. This is a top notch recording studio and really good value. Mike is also a top engineer and top musician with it, very helpful from the start to the finish of the whole recording process. I can't recommend North Brighton Recording enough. As a first time recording session virgin I was extremely anxious about the whole experience - not great when you're trying to deliver the best musical performance you can. Mike was totally professional at all times and yet made me feel completely involved with the whole process, patiently answering all my stupid questions and explaining everything. He is a lovely guy with a great sense of humour. More importantly, I felt he was totally committed to achieving a finished recording that I was completely happy with. Pier Recruitment has recently worked with Mike at North Brighton Recording and the service he has provided has been faultless. After agreeing to assist us with a (fairly large) charity venture, Mike has been outstanding and very flexible. From the initial emails sent right up to the completion of the recordings - nothing has been too much trouble for Mike and his professionalism and zest for what he does is refreshing.

We used the studios for a total of two and a half days and (fairly accidentally) took over Mike's kitchen, for the most part! The majority of participants who sang as part of the charity venture were complete novices, but Mike made everyone (whatever their ability) feel welcome and at ease. As a side note - there is also FREE parking around the site which is very rare in Brighton and is always a nice surprise!

We are looking forward to hearing the final track which Mike is mixing/mastering and have every confidence that it will turn out to be as fantastic as the service he provides! We would highly recommend Mike to anyone who needs to use his studio/expertise/creative flare. Thank you!!! More...

As a solo artist, the task was daunting - not only the idea of recording an album after years but also finding a studio with a friendly trustworthy sound engineer! My dreams were absolutely answered! When I went to check out NBR and met Mike and saw the top notch studio, it was a definite YES!! Mike is so, so friendly and was genuinely excited about making my album. I didn’t feel just like another client, he really tailored everything to me from discussing the whole process, the overall feel and the sound I was wanting and the final outcome.

From the very first recording session, everything felt so relaxed. I never felt rushed by Mike and really enjoyed each session and had fun! He was very encouraging and I trusted him so that if I wanted advice I knew he would always give his honest opinion. It really helps that Mike is a musician too and has previously recorded so can see things from both sides - his ears are excellent! Mike also Mastered my album and did a cracking job.

So whether you’re wanting to record as a solo artist, as a band or in any formation be it for an album, an EP or just for fun, I absolutely 100 percent highly recommend Mike and NBR More...

Mike dealt with our band extremely well - three of the members have combined experience in recording studios running into many hundreds of hours and have seen the good the bad and the ugly. NBR are the good. Mike is always an attentive listener, but is happy to assert an opinion if prompted. The work ethic in the studio is top notch and leads to excellent productivity. Overall, we found the sessions fun, highly rewarding and obtained a great end result. If you’re reading this review you’re probably trying to decide which studio / producer to go with. I know I deliberated no end! It’s a huge decision. So I hope this review does justice to Mike Sandeman and his studio at North Brighton Recording. Just starting out as a new band (me as a songwriter with an incredible vocalist) we eventually took the plunge with Mike because of a number of really important things....for starters he has a fresh and unpretentious website we liked, he’s easy to find, not far off the A27, there’s plenty of free parking, his rates are great value, and the studio is modern, bright and airy. We also listened to some of his work on his website and thought the production quality was outstanding. Then there’s all the things you can’t know before you get there...and that’s where I hope this review will be really useful if you are trying to find the ‘right’ producer. We went and met Mike at his studio and immediately felt relaxed and comfortable with Mike....straight away you can tell you’re going to be in good hands. As a songwriter and first time record maker I was anxious about creative control, constantly asking questions, tweaking this and that, experimenting and in this respect Mike exceeded my hopes! He listened a lot to what we had achieved already and how we wanted to develop our music in making a record...he was sensitive to what we wanted to achieve and his production did amazing things to really bring out our sound, and now we have our first single! Mike has a great ability to tune into the needs and wants of artist and songwriters, finding ways of optimising the product without polluting the essential qualities of original songs. These points are made in part to give the reader reasons why YOU should use Mike Sandeman’s services, they are made in the context of myself a producer and song writer needing assistance with recording of backing vocals in a 3-4 hour time frame, so is limited, but i am confident Mike can assist YOU with production, song writing, session muscian work etc etc. Hospitality -We were all made to feel welcome. I had only spoken to Mike couple of times on the phone, and only met Him on recording day but was made to feel like i had know him for yearsGood sound engineer. I was overall very impressed at how Mike directed the overall tracking of BV’s, he has made life easy but doing comping on the fly, subsequently i have now gone through the vocals in my studio and with his initial approach on recording day has made my life easy with limited editing needed so i can go straight into the mix phase.Went the extra mile. I initially contracted Mike to sound engineer, but for my money i got so much more, which included but not limited to assistance with communication and logistics with the backing vocalists and assistance and support of myself for production thoughts on the day of the recording session. Cost Effective. Mikes costs are inexpensive i feel for the effort, technical ability, talent, infrastructure both hard and software and buildings and i will use his services in the near future. Tucked away in the back of north Brighton is this hidden gem! I have been recording in the wonderful studio in North Brighton in 2016 with my band. Mike carried out first class production job on our album. He was helped out by some great gear in the studio which opened up even more creative possibilities both in the recording and production process. Mike is also a great keyboard player and added a whole new dimension to our sound. I can highly recommend him as an engineer and producer.The studio space is big enough to really set up some good live sounds with the necessary separation required but small enough to keep it intimate and keep you connected to your fellow performers.
