I had lessons from him for 2 years at NCN (now Nottingham College), and he was by far the best teacher I've ever had the pleasure to learn from. He would always help you improve by giving you detailed feedback, as well as always being eager to chat after the lesson has finished about any ideas or questions you might have. He was entirely over-qualified for the college, and I'm glad that he now has his own school that will allow him to make the best use of his teaching and musical ability. More...

What a fantastic teacher of music. I met Nick on the NCN 3rd year top up music degree and he inspired me to continue my studies to an MA in Music afterwards. During the degree, I found Nick to be very knowledgeable in music, filled with enthusiasm and was great to talk to and was also a great listener when it came to ideas and discussing music based topics. With his help and advice I achieved a high mark in my dissertation which was i. The 80’s and never achieved before. I can highly recommend Nick, he is truly interested in your development as a musician and can help you achieve, whether a beginner to music or wanting to excel to the highest level. More...

As a former student of Nicks, I've found his teachings invaluable in my pursuit of being a better musician, I've gained a greater understanding of music beyond just drums in the areas of composition & arrangement along with developing my aural skills as a result of Nick's knowledge and tutelage. A lovely man and a great and patient teacher, amazing to see him doing his own thing, can't recommend him enough! More...

I was taught by Nick at Clarendon College, Nottingham 16 years ago and can recommend him very highly to his future students. Nick teaches to suit his learner's styles and needs, he is incredibly knowledgeable and is an immensely talented musician and composer. After finishing my degree at Birmingham Conservatoire my quartet and I would often come to Nottingham to record for his students. He always creates a positive, exciting and vibrant environment in which to learn and is all in all a jolly nice chap. More...

I had the privilege of being under Nick's tutorage when I attended a music course in Nottingham about 17 years ago.
I found Nick to be an amazing tutor who was extremely knowledgable about all things music. So passionate is he for his craft that he takes the utmost time with all of his students to ensure they understand fully what they are learning/creating, showing great patience and understanding for both the student and what he teaches.
I am thrilled that he has now set up the Foxton School of Music as I cannot think of many who would make a finer tutor and so many more people will now be lucky enough to learn from his seemingly limitless knowledge.
Highly Recommended! :)

As a former student of Nick's at NCN, I am so pleased to see the opening of FSM. I can certainly attest to the excellent teachings in which myself, and many others have recieved from Nick over the years, including being one of the most memorable teachers I've had (of all time), as well as a superbly accomplished music teacher in so many ways.
I can say now, that as well as a testimonial to Nick Redfern's unbeatable professionalism and kind, patient and enthusiastic nature, I am with certainty that his role in FSM will be of equal success.

Nick is by far the most influential teacher I've ever had when I studied music at college. Humility is a rare trait in excellent musicians yet Nick never boasted and always made us feel welcome and never looked down on us. Learning music can be daunting (especially with the wrong tutor who point out all of your flaws) Nick very much made me believe in myself In a time where I didn't at allI would recommend Nick 100% if I could give more stars I would!! He is a lovely guy and will give you a learning experience you will not find elsewhere!I am now a guitar teacher and I'd not be here today doing what I love without people like Nick. More...
