What’s your interior design process?
We start with a client consultation to make sure we understand exactly what our client's needs and objectives are. During this consultation, we ask questions regarding the specific functions of the space. It is also important to understand who will be using the space. The furniture and equipment requirements will also be discussed at this meeting. Measurements and photos will be taken at this time.
During the second phase, we will create rough sketches and mood boards with preliminary furniture, fabrics and finishes according to the client's chosen style. This will be presented to the client for review and approval.
After final approval of the proposed design ideas, we will develop floor plans, elevations and other related items in more detail. All colours and finishes are refined. The furniture, equipment and fabrics are selected and cost estimates are prepared. The resulting design will then be presented to the client for revision and final approval.
All the specific details of the work that needs to be done will be documented ( finish selections, like flooring and paint, lighting plans, fixture selections, electrical layouts etc)
The next step is to obtain quotes from all the different contractors. Choosing the right people for the job is essential.
Now the purchase orders will be issued.
During the final stage, everything will be built and installed. The designer will be on site, only if the client appoints them to project manage. In that case they will ensure that items are received in good condition, installed correctly and that procedures have been followed.
