Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Good parking and great service. I was with my daughter and 2 grand daughters and it catered for all. The staff were very helpful and attentive. It was nice to see it allowed well behaved dogs in as well. Will visit again!! More...

returned after visiting a year ago and was very impressed with what the new owners are doing to the place by making it more family friendly,we went over the bank holiday weekend and had the pleasure of meeting a couple of snakes,lizards and a tarantula as there was a exotic animal show happening as we arrived,we stopped in room 6 which has a balcony and for 50 pound a night is outstanding value as we paid double that last year for same room,enjoyed the food and bar staff were very pleasant,if I have any criticism is that I think they should serve some sort of food sunday teatime as I lost count of people (families) that came in and asked for food only to be told they didn't do any so duly turned round and left,anyway great stay again,thank you.

The atmosphere was perfect, staff were helpful, attentive and accommodating. Heading back from Whitby we decided to try out the newly reopened Ivanhoe as it had been a few years since we'd last tried it and it really wasn't anything special back then. We were happy to stand at the bar and have a drink whilst we waited for a table and noted how attentive the staff were to the diners, each server had their tables which was well organised. We had a carvery lunch which was superbly cooked and the portion was generous to say the least. The landlady and landlord have recently taken over the establishment and if I lived within walking distance would be more than happy to frequent such a great atmospheric local, I wish them every success in a trade which is all too often becoming synonymous with soulless establishments. We booked our table for Sunday a few days in advance due to new ownership, we like calling in because the restaurant accommodates for our four legged part of the family. The staff were very friendly when booking and gave the impression we would be welcome, this remained throughout the arrival and the meal. The setting and delivery was very much the same, but you could tell they were finding their feet, the lady who served us was brilliant, obviously a little out of place but keeping it altogether. The meat was towards the end of its service, still nice, possibly sliced to thick, practice required or the correct individual in post, but it could remain like that for us. The vegetables were well cooked but some were getting towards that fine line of should there be more cooked or shall we see who else is coming. Great start guys, food,atmosphere, and attitude like before, but we feel if they can make their mark they will get great reviews. Will be back, that's for definite hope they make it, love the building and position, surprised how short some landlords stay, fingers crossed for the new people, wishing them all the best. More...

This was a lovely pub only thing that spoilt it for me was the tv’s with Sky sport on all the while, the staff were very friendly and some nice beers were available the menu was a typical pub menu but the food was well cooked and plenty of it, I would certainly use again if in the area.

Just returned from a one night stay at The Ivanhoe. The room a little dated and could do with a lick of paint but on the whole I would recommend and I would go back. We stayed in Room 12 which is up at the top in the eaves and I did bump my head a couple of times but the room was large and well presented. The bathroom was clean and the shower was 1st class, which can be a worry when on the top floor because of lack of pressure but no such problems. The bed was so comfy that I could have happily lazed in it till way past the 10.30 check out time. ||Breakfast was good, we both had a full English and enjoyed it thoroughly and the lady serving us was so polite and friendly couldn't ask for more. ||As I say would recommend if you're looking for a cheap and cheerful night's stay and would definitely go back if I was in Scarborough again More...

my partner booked here for the night for my birthday, could not fault a thing , from the staff when we checked in to the room was clean light airy and the beds were amazingly comfortable. went down for a meal before going out for the evening food was delicious, quick and once again very friendly service. knowing this was a pub also was a bit concerned about noise at closing time, should never have worried we heard nothing, highly recommend here if your planning a trip to Scarborough or even just to open air theatre as its only a 15 min walk away. We stayed here last night in the balcony suite room. Room was nice and comfortable. Bathroom was nice and clean. Staff friendly and this morning was beaut! I have given a 4 rating because the mattress was uncomfortable. The tv was very small and there was only 1 chair on the balcony. There was however more than enough tea, coffee and milk! We had been to the Ivanhoe before for meals and to do the quiz so decided to stay there for 2 nights in half term. The service and staff could not have been nicer! On arrival the room Natalie,( who was lovely and so efficient) had put us in had to be changed due to a heating repair so I told them I would struggle with 2 flights of stairs due to arthritis and Chris checked for us and made sure I didnt have far to go. We had a lovely modern twin room which although was small was fine for 2 nights. The breakfast was amazing and we didn't have to rush down as there is a longer serving period. We both had the full English and it was delicious and we didn't eat again all day until the evening! Thank you to all at the Ivanhoe, we will definitely be staying again! More...

I have stayed here three times .Its a pub with rooms. The rooms are clean and have all the facilities.Its not luxurious but if you need a base with free car parking access to frequent public transport this is ideal. It’s within walking distance of the North bay Scalby Mills Peasholm Park and the new swimming complex. If you like walking there are abundant interesting routes for all . Without doubt this is one of the friendliest places we've stopped. The staff were brilliant and the food was extremely good value. Well presented and generous portions. Rooms were clean and to a good standard. Breakfast was very good. Free entertainment on a Saturday night.
