MM Landscapes LTD

MM Landscapes Ltd was struck off by HMRC in Feb 2023. Martin Maughan took on the job to landscape our garden illegally in March 2023. The job was done to an appalling standard. We’ve had several professionals visit since and all were speechless at how poorly various parts of the job were handled. The garden design developed was largely ignored; the path was rerouted and eating area removed. Nothing levelled, nothing straight. Large puddles are now forming of the large concreted area at the back. The drainage in the same area was installed as an afterthought – again done to a poor standard, wobbly uneven and to an insufficient extent. Loose gravel sprinkled on top of uneven, poorly set concrete on the path. Path slab wobbly and one of them has already a chipped corner due to insufficient concrete underneath. Sleepers for flower beds laid unpreserved, ready to rot. No weed membrane placed, no plastic to protect the bottom of the fence from rotting. Lawn seeds were eaten by birds within 5 minutes. We were recommended by a seasoned contractor installing the shed to take Martin to court for a full money back plus damages. Martin is a charming and well-spoken man with a heart of a conman, and he took advantage of my wife’s trust and kindness (she even made them lunch every day they were here, a big effort as she is disabled). Martin’s crew comprised of himself, two of his teenage sons and a bunch of day labourers, none of whom were qualified for the job.
Martin pressed hard for the 50% balance money several days before the job was completed, justifying it by needing to travel back to Ireland and having extra expenses elsewhere. In a couple of weeks after job completion, he came back to “improve” on a few things and to try and upsell us on a few other bits, like brick waterproofing and shed installation. Nothing got improved, the garden path is still uneven and wobbly.
We contacted Martin with a picture of a broken paving stone and followed up with another text, and we have been completely ignored.
My wife and I were way too naïve and nice to do due diligence and to dismiss Martin and his crew as soon as possible (ideally never hire!). We paid dearly for it – almost £20k of hard-earned money. Despite a few extras, e.g. extra fence panels in the back, we truly were straight up conned. We’re well vaccinated against cowboy builders for life now, and this is the only thing we are grateful to Martin for. More...

We needed a permeable driveway made, they done the job in 3 days to an incredible standard. The team were very friendly. Martin and the guys did such a fantastic job on the front driveway, that we got them to do the back patio too. Worked non stop. Very happy with the work done and would highly recommend!!!! More...

Martin and his team did a great job replacing our front garden with a new driveway.

They made the process easy, gave us some v helpful suggestions on the design/colours and completed the job on time, at the agreed price and to a high standard. Would recommend.
