What do you love most about your job?
The best part of the job is seeing over time how a student is benefiting from your help. From seeing my students every week, I am constantly seeing them improve and grow their confidence. As a tutor, that is a really rewarding thing to see.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I was privately tutoring before, and naturally as my number of clients continued to increase I realised there was a good opportunity to scale it up and start employing and training other tutors. I always wanted to run my own business, so once the idea popped into my head there was no looking back!
Why should our clients choose you?
Metatutor is special because all our tutors are university students - and there are two reasons why I have chosen to do this: Firstly, it means the tutors have all gone through the education system very recently so are able to help with recent experience of the syllabus and exams. Secondly, the kids will relate much better to a university student, as they will see the tutor more as a peer than as a teacher or authority figure. This is invaluable as (from experience) 10-18 year olds respond so much better and are much more keen to learn when this is the case. If they get on with the tutor, they will listen so much more and even look forward to the sessions (even if they do not like the subject they are being taught)!
