What makes a great website?
An understanding that content is the driver for the design and functionality of the site. Clients should create copy that informs quickly and efficiently. You have 10 - 15 seconds to grab the visitors attention. Features that are included in an attempt to impress the visitor can get in the way of access to the important information required by the visitor.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Why do you need a website? What do you expect it to achieve? Have you a clear idea of what you want to tell visitors?
Describe your creative process.
1. Help the customer produce a design brief before attempting to create first designs. 2. Eliminate the fanciful. 3. Home in on the content of the site allowing it to dictate the form/structure/functionality of the design.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
A design brief covering sizes, colours and end use. All copy to be supplied as a text document eg Word.
What do you love most about your job?
That it doesn't feel like a job! I get paid for doing something I enjoy.
What inspired you to start your own business?
To be able to work on different types of commissions I would not ordinarily get involved with. One of my early jobs was to provide graphics for a WWF exhibition installation in Tunisia.
Why should our clients choose you?
I am professionally trained and have decades of experience working on all areas of graphics including books, brochures, posters, leaflets and web graphics. I offer a personal service and can work outside normal office hours and I am used to working to tight deadlines.
