Pollarding is the process of pruning a tree so that it stays much smaller than it would naturally grow. A hedge reduction may be necessary if hedges are left to get too tall. This process involves selecting the new required level for the hedge and usually using a chainsaw to remove the thicker centre stems before being levelled and tidied with a hedge trimmer.
