Simplicity, elegance, functionality and integrity, a great website should be easy to navigate and have a clear message and an easily understood offer. The design considerations should be led by the customers needs and not just by what is on trend or looks cool. A great website is memorable and entices users to stay longer, find out more about your offer, return and more importantly recommend.

When I'm starting out with a new client I like to get as much information about their business, their values and their customers as possible. Being armed with this kind of information allows you to make more informed decisions about the creative process and ensure they get the right outcome for their business and their customers. The kind of questions I would ask are:

If you could describe your company in one word what would it be?
What are your values? Do you have a mission statement?
Who is your target audience? How would you like to be perceived by them?
Who are your competitors? What are their values? What is it about them you respect the most?
Tell me about your employees? How do they see the company they work in?

Firstly I like to get into the minds of my clients, it's important to me that all my clients get the best possible standard of creativity they deserve. Once I have a good understanding of their business, their values and their requirements I will spend time researching into what they need and how I can best deliver it on budget and on time.

When at the ideas generation stage I like to put pen to paper and rough out concepts and visuals, this helps me to start making connections and in turn generates more ideas. This is the point where the magic happens, usually some kind of light bulb moment where a embryonic idea forms into something more solid and warrants more development. At this point, armed with some great ideas it's a good time to contact the client and pitch the new concepts to them.

With the idea agreed it's then time to produce the goods. I like to keep the client in the loop throughout the production process, it's normal for ideas to evolve even more at this stage, and keeping the client abreast of the development will avoid any surprises later.

Finally it's time to deliver the final product, I ensure the client receives all the work in a well organised manner, and provide support going forward for any additional changes.

Before starting any job it's good to have a brief, an idea of what the client wants to achieve, their primary goals, a budget and a time frame. This is usually enough to get going.

The freedom and ability to create something from nothing. To have people look at the work I do and get something positive out of it. It's also endlessly fun.

Having worked for multiple agencies for most of my career, I have gained a huge amount of knowledge and experience about the design industry and its many facets. Starting out by myself has given me the ability to offer these skills to my own clients, where I can spend more time ensuring they get the right creative outcome and benefit from a more tailored solution.

With over 16 years industry experience and a love for what I do I can provide a exceptional service that keeps my clients and their customers at the forefront of the design process. It is my belief that everyone deserves great design, and it's my number one aim to provide it effectively and at a reasonable price.
