I signed up for beginner’s lessons at the LSS having never played the sax or any other instrument in my life. My teacher was Professor Trevor Conner. Under his expert tutelage I was soon playing scales, arpeggios and simple tunes on the alto sax. Trevor made playing the sax fun right from the start. I feel it’s very important for a beginner to have fun from day one as this provides encouragement to persevere and progress. Trevor varied the content of his lessons to include long notes, scales, arpeggios and explanations on technique and music theory. Trevor delivered his content with a humorous twinkle in his eye, taking the subject matter seriously while maintaining the fun and enjoyment throughout. I found Trevor’s positive energy inspiring and stimulating. Each lesson would end with him congratulating me on my day’s work, leaving me excited about practicing and improving for the next lesson. Many thanks Trevor for making my first experience with the sax a great one and helping me establish solid fundamentals to progress. More...

I’ve been saxing away with the London Saxophone School crew for almost two years now; i have progressed from not being able to read music to performing in front of an audience at two of the concerts organized by the school. I started with the group lessons and now moved to private ones, always with Tamas, who is such a good teacher and excellent professional. I couldn’t recommend these guys more!Valeria More...

From zero to hero. Maybe not quite hero, but the teachers at the Saxophone School have the patience and skills to help you get there. Trevor, Martino and Tamás are great teachers! They've combined both theory and practice neatly. Personally, I really enjoyed the group lessons as I feel that there is more constructive competition, at least for the first steps. More...

I was apprehensive in joining the Saxophone Ensemble as I have always just played at home and had never played within a group, which was what I desperately needed to bring my saxophone playing to a new level. I initially spoke with Martino over the telephone before I booked as I had many questions that I needed answering. Martino could not have been more helpful and he completely put me at ease. He explained in depth what the ensemble was about and what I could expect to achieve from it.I have to say that the ensemble has been better than that I could ever have imagined. In just a matter of weeks my sight reading has improved vastly, along with my timing and intonation. The ensemble is open to all ages from school children to adults, who like myself took to learning the saxophone much later in life.Martino has a vast knowledge of not only composing and playing the saxophone. He also has a passion to ensure that each and everyone of his students is improving. He is extremely patient, knowledgeable and strives to get the best out of his group. Please do not allow you age or ability to be a factor for not joining. Martino makes learning incredible fun and I cannot wait for the next one!" More...

Martino was a great teacher to find for my 12 year old son while we were in London for 2 years. We moved to London from overseas and tried 3 other teachers who came to the house. However, the local music shop helped us find Martino and his London Saxophone School. He was just who we were looking for: an excellent musician with great training and performance and a real teacher with regular dedicated lesson times and teaching methods. He communicates well with young students and is very encouraging and inspiring. His recitals and concerts get everyone involved to perform for an audience - young students and adults. Martino prepared him extremely well for his European youth Honour Band audition, and surprised his music teachers at school; he got into the Honour Band. We recently moved to the US and so had to leave the London Saxophone School and Martino's great teaching. Sami's 2 years with Martino have served him well and he stands out among his student peers in his new school band; he has been able to take private lessons from another outstanding saxophonist near our new home. Thanks, Martino! I am an amateur musician myself and am very familiar with the benefits and characteristics of a great private instrumental teacher; I also get advice from my musician friends and teachers on important aspects when looking for a private teacher. Martino is definitely a great saxophone teacher in London. More...
