I've rented through many letting agents over the past 6 years and I have never felt compelled to write a review of a letting agent, until now. My first impression of this letting agent was through setting up my first viewing for a property. I was greeted by a lovely lady, very nice and cheery, she made it clear that she wanted to help me the best way she could. Also she made it seem like she had all the time in the world for me, not like other agents who want to get rid of you asap to get another punter on the phone straight away. On viewing our first property we met a letting agent called Sam Walker. Again, first impressions were great, nice guy and down to earth. Treated us as equals, not speaking down to us nor was he intrusive with our viewing (like previous letting agents we've viewed with in York). Once we got talking to Sam he ascertained our needs, and we set up some more viewings. He was very considerate and understood what we were needing and remembered those needs for the next viewings, to which we got talking about furniture plans/room layouts giving us the vision we needed to see ourselves in our new home.Each process was a breeze and upon collecting our keys at our new home, it became more apparent how stress free and easy it was. Amy was there to greet us and talk through our agreement and the rest of the logistics. She was answered all queries we had and had a good natter about everything, making us feel right at home.I could not recommend this letting agent enough, caring, attentive, down to earth and professional. What a lovely team of people at Letters of Distinction! Everybody that I interacted with on my search for a property was so friendly and obliging. Sam was really kind and helpful on viewings and Zoe was really quick to respond to e-mails as well as being lovely to speak to on the phone. When it was time for me to move in, Amy handled my check-in and she too was so friendly, both over the phone and in person. It made the process so much nicer to have someone with such a helpful and positive attitude to go through the paperwork with. We move into our new flat tomorrow, and couldn't be more delighted with the help we've received along the way. An extra special thanks to Zoe, who completely removed all of the stressful aspects that come with finding a new home. Such a kind team of people, all equally as enthusiastic and as kind as each other and always a pleasure visiting the office. I have no doubt that Zoe and her colleagues will be on hand should any issues arise throughout our tenancy, and as young graduates in first jobs we've really appreciated the help. We had the pleasure of moving in, taken care of by the brilliant Amy. She made us feel really at ease during the move in, and went through all the relevant paperwork at our speed so we understood it all. She’d also taken care of our queries over the agreement, going through it line by line so we felt comfortable and it really made a difference. She gets 5-Stars straight away!

In the interest of a balanced review, I will say that Letters of Distinction appear to have a couple of back-of-house issues. First off, they’re very very expensive. Now moving house always is, but the fees were higher than any others we saw.

Also, there were mistakes in our guarantor agreement and when they were brought up, our guarantor was told that they wouldn’t be changed because it would take too long to process in the legal department. It does make us wonder what we’ve paid all the money for in fees if they can’t get the paperwork right.

Overall the experience of moving in was great. The day went without a hitch and everything was completely clear and friendly. Thanks Amy! More...

Have had a really good experience so far. Extremely professional company and the staff are so lovely and helpful! I was shown around by Sam who was very professional and approachable. Amy took care of the signing and key collection and she made everything really clear and was also really lovely and approachable! I can tell they really care about their clients. I noticed upon moving in that my oven and fridge weren’t working, it’s been less than a week and my oven is already fixed and a new fridge has been ordered!
