LETTER FOUR, LLC.

The summary of this long overdue review is that we would highly recommend Letter Four for all aspects of the design/build process. We hired Letter Four to do a complete re-build of our house (taking it from a 1300sf single story house to a 3,000sf two story house and completely redesigning the entire facade). This was a major project, particularly for a couple with very little experience in construction or renovations. Admittedly, as is the case with all construction projects, there were some unanticipated delays throughout the process. But, the large majority of these were at no fault of Letter Four’s and, if ever they did make a mistake, they did everything in their power to rectify the problem as quickly and painlessly as possible.In my book, the responses and reactions to issues are more important than the issues themselves and whenever an unexpected issue did arise, Letter Four was exceedingly fair, reasonable, and responsive. This was of vital importance to me, and I commend them for their integrity. In addition to their customer service, I could not be happier with the end result. Lauren and Jeremy are truly masters of their respective trades. Running a business is hard, but it brought us great comfort to know that they were there, behind the scenes, to assist with both the architectural and construction related aspects of the project. I also have to give a major shout out to their Project Manager, Emmet, who could not have been more helpful, kind, responsive, friendly, knowledgeable, or easy to work with. One of the hardest parts of running a small business is hiring employees who will properly represent the company and maintain the same level of customer service you, as an owner, would provide. AMAZING company!!!  It's hard to find responsive people in any business, let along the construction business, so we thanked our lucky stars when we started working with Letter Four.  Lauren and Jeremy, the owners, were two of the most responsive and friendly people I've ever met and their passion and vision for our project was impressive from the start.  You'll immediately feel at ease with your design/build needs in the hands of these two and their amazing team!!  Their level of professionalism and communication is unmatched, which is of the upmost importance when embarking on a big housing project!  Thank you for being so wonderful, Letter Four! Jeremy and Lauren led the renovation of our home in Santa Monica Canyon. The original house was a tribute to 1991 Miami Vice, a big modern white thing with polished black granite floors and shag carpet. Every single room needed to be fixed. They opened up the rooms to let light into every corner, worked with us to make it both kid-friendly and beautiful and were comfortable integrating some of our preferences for specific ceramic tiles, art and metalwork with their design vision. Along the way we discovered ways that the original builder had cut costs and/or parts of the house were simply giving out (old thin plumbing, a structural issue supporting the staircase, etc). These things will happen in any major renovation and it is important how your contractor handles them when they do. Jeremy was great in communicating exactly what the issue was and how we could solve it in a way that was best for our budget and timeline. Wonderful. More...

This involved a complete redo of the kitchen and bathrooms, as well as some structural changes.  As new homeowners with no experience in renovation or design, we were very nervous about such a huge undertaking! However, we were immediately put at ease when we started working with Letter Four. They were very thorough and allowed us to be as hands-on or removed as we wanted to be. They handled all the permitting, vendors, subcontracts, and ordering and worked through numerous obstacles on our behalf! Lauren's eye for design is spot-on and we basically went with almost all of her choices, without a second thought!  Overall a great experience and we would definitely work with them again! More...

We hired Lauren and Jeremy to help us with our remodel back in 2013 to turn our 1930's Spanish style house into something that would work for a family of four, with a budget. The end result is amazing; we turned a choppy 2 bed 1.75 bath house into a beautiful open concept, 3 bed 2 and a half bath home with all the modern conveniences but keeping with the traditional style of the original house. We hired Letter Four back in 2014 to turn our small 2 bedroom house into a 4 bedroom/2 stories house. We had never done any house construction previously, so we were looking for a design-build firm to help us concept, design plans, construction and project management. When we met Lauren & Jeremy, the co-owners of Letter Four, we felt confident that they would accomplish the job in the best way and stay on budget. Before diving in we heard from other people that we should plan for 50% overages of the original budget. I don't think many people have that much money in reserve, so we were VERY nervous. We had a clear budget going in and the overages we ran into we're either from our choices to do things differently (windows), or city ordinances that were created after we began construction (rain barrels). I'm the end I think we were over budget by roughly 7% of the original plan. Jeremy and Lauren were great at giving us options, walking us through the process and providing therapy from time to time!!!The simplest thing I would say is that, if we ever built a house again, we would do it with Letter Four. We worked with Jeremy and Lauren on a major kitchen and bath renovation. We can't say enough good things about them. They truly created a dream kitchen for us. They came back to us with great options, listened to our input and really thought about cost efficient solutions that made sense. Lauren's designs were amazing and kept with the style of the house perfectly (1930's Spanish). Jeremy went out of his way to break down costs and outline schedules for us.  Their team was courteous and always did a great job of cleaning up, which was really important for us, as we have 2 small kids. I hired Letter Four to remodel my house and convert my garage into a screening room.I checked out many contractors and design firms prior to hiring them and none of them can hold a candle to these guys in terms of raw talent, honesty, and price point.   Jeremy is an absolute pleasure to deal with - he's smart, honest, and forthright with his customers.  More importantly, he actually cares about your project.  He took the time to get a feel from me about what my "dream room" would be like and then proceeded to make those dreams come true.The process of working with him was fantastic from the get go - he understands design from both an artistic and practical standpoint.  This means he knows how to get the best possible results out of your budget while not afraid to think outside the box and make creative suggestions. The screening room that he created is so amazing, so full of incredible design elements (especially the lighting) that I regularly take credit to anyone who comes over for Jeremy's creativity.There are a ton of contractors out there who will give you a low ball quote and then by the time they are deeply entrenched in your project they will start putting in change orders and raising prices.  I had terrible experiences with a few such firms and it nearly soured me on the entire process.   Jeremy gave me a fair, honest quote and it never ballooned up like the others.  I could honestly go on for days about how good these guys are but the best endorsement I can give you about them is just to say this:  I have subsequently hired Letter Four on three other projects and I have been more than happy with the results each and every time.  I would hire them again in a heartbeat.  I am a real, satisfied customer.  Give these guys a chance - you won't regret it. My experience working with Letter Four was great!I needed a logo for my company with limited time available.  They created an amazing logo with just some basic information from me.  The level of creativity was priceless, yet they understood my customer and the "feeling" I wanted my logo to portray.   They were very timely in providing me with proofs to approve and were considerate of when I needed the final logo. All emails were professional and were answered timely.  I would recommend Letter Four to anyone needing their design/development services and will go back to them when I need their services again.
